Can they pull the plug on the pastor's mouth? Please?
godsbongSep 10, 2010
Followed by the WBC, they need to be unplugged as well..

The Qur'an burning has been cancelled, according to the Palm Beach Post. Islamic center planned near Ground Zero in New York will be moved elsewhere.

Yeah, not so much.
johnnysoftwareSep 10, 2010
I actually feel bad that people bothered to go to the site and read it. The hate mongering does not help either side of any arguments, nor the innocent bystanders in the bleachers or at home minding their own business. Book burning is not a respectable profession, fund-raising activity, entertainment form, or pastime.
We are not cavemen huddling around some witch doctor gesticulating wildly around some superstitious symbols. We are 21st century man; literate, well-educated, logical, and capable of seeing things from both sides. We should act like it.
We should all know when we are being manipulated emotionally in order to make us think with our endocrine systems, not our brains.
falserSep 10, 2010
I agree! Digg Sucks!!!
lunarparcelSep 10, 2010
And you're still using because.....?
somedrunkSep 10, 2010
I came here first. The comments section are finally getting bearable. Burning books is the height of ignorance.
DArmasSep 10, 2010
Eh, I'm not all about burning anything. I'm actually pretty pissed about the disrespect, but we shouldn't hinder his freedom of speech... regardless of idiocracy. As far as canceling, it's probably due to the amount of money the city of Gainesville was planning to charge him. There were also talks of pulling Marion County deputies (my county in Ocala, FL) to help Gainesville. I trust they would of billed them just as well!Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
hipmanSep 10, 2010
They were planning to charge him?.For what?.
jdenzerSep 10, 2010
Freedom of Speech does not protect you from companies denying you a venue to spread speech. Rackspace is not required to give them webspace, especially if it violates the companies policy. Just like advertisers are not required to advertise on the church's site. Why do people have a hard time understanding that concept. When the government steps in at shuts down the church's site, then yes their free speech is violated.
elwoodbluesSep 10, 2010
so bible burning is ok?
is flag burning ok?
please apply the same zeal that the minister has been shown to those other groups.
tmac79Sep 10, 2010
burn anything you want to... Except illegally downloaded media files.
onwaverSep 10, 2010
You're absolutely right. This zeal against this pastor would NEVER be shown against a group of people who were going to burn the American flag, burn some Bibles, or create some sort of offensive religious art.
There's something else going on here and it has little to do with respect for religious beliefs. That's total BS.
jdenzerSep 10, 2010
No one is saying that those are OK. What makes this different is that as Americans, we believe in being above such hatred. Just b/c those in other countries burn our flag doesn't mean we must burn theirs to justify the means. You know the saying "two wrongs don't make a right" We have no influence/control over what others do in their country, but we do in this country to show others that we are above all that. And FYI, burning the US flag, like they do in other counties is illegal. So when it comes to that we are quite zealous, if we weren't, then it wouldn't be illegal. And trust me if the Muslim community tried to burn bibles here in the US, I am 100% sure we would be quite zealous. about it.
onwaverSep 10, 2010
Constant mockery/disrespect of religion continues elsewhere in America, but nobody cries foul. When someone disrespects Islam, suddenly it's one horrible sin. Such hypocrisy. Total BS.
yammibowlaSep 10, 2010
This is not on the same level as "Christian bashing" This is burning the religious text of another religion. We do not do that in America. We do not tolerate such egregious activities here in America. If you are for such barbaric practices then leave here and go where they advocate such practices.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
hipmanSep 10, 2010
stfu yam, you don't know the first thing about this country.not only does he have every right to do it, but it deserves no respect or adulation whatsoever.
somedrunkSep 10, 2010
If the flag has touched the ground, it is perfectly legal to burn it.
opticwindSep 10, 2010
Burning the US flag is consistently a protected right whenever it comes up to the Supreme Court. It is not illegal.
Closed AccountSep 10, 2010
it's called freedom of speech and freedom of religion. You religious f**ks can't have it both ways. If you want freedom of both, take your taxes up the ass like the rest of us or shut the f**k up.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

This is not about fredom of speech or freedom of religion. If someone like Richard Dawkins would organize "Bible burning day", I have no doubt it would cause massive erections among his followers. Why? Because they wouldn't be scared s**tless of us Christians responding by blowing up buildings or killing atheists.
This is all about fear of Islamic terrorists and nothing else.
Closed AccountSep 10, 2010
I agree with you. If they want to show this sort of zealous action in removing this church's content, then why not go after the flag burners, Bible burners and racists? Their content is offensive, disruptive and threatening as well.
celino_cSep 10, 2010
Kevin pulls plug on Digg's future
lunarparcelSep 10, 2010
Oh s**t! Then where will asstards go to troll, then?
tmac79Sep 10, 2010
I'm just as disturbed by rackspace's decision to censor the speech of the church as I was about the church's decision to burn Korans, if not more so. Isn't the great thing about the internet the fact that anyone can say anything, and if people don't like it, they'll just not read it? I don't like hate, but I also don't like that people aren't permitted to hate.
philbertSep 10, 2010
No you can't say anything. Just about every website has a TOS that you agree to, and you're almost always agreeing to the same kinds of things that got his site pulled.
opticwindSep 10, 2010
You're not even close to reality, here. Censorship is an act of a government. The church pays for a service from Rackspace and broke the rules of that service.
You have the right to say anything, but not a right to a soapbox to say it on.
tmac79Sep 12, 2010
I partially agree....Our speech is only protected from reprisal/consequences from the Government, but any act of limiting speech is a form of censorship. They have the right to do this, but that doesn't make it a good idea.
odkinSep 10, 2010
As a liberal, I may not agree with what you say, but i'll defend to the death...
Oh wait, you're Christian? Conservative? Patriotic? Then shut up and f**k you. You need to pay a large fine and go to jail!
phalanxcronosSep 10, 2010
Oh what a bunch of crap, how long has the website been on Rackspace? Only now do they decide it's a violation? Yeah I know, free speech doesn't apply to private companies. However, it should for companies charged with deseminating information (isp, webhost, usps, ups, fedex, etc). What if Comcast decided to block it's users from viewing websites it deemed "offensive"?
yez70Sep 10, 2010
Actually, Rackspace and/or Comcast has every right to block anything they want. The First Amendment does not apply to private companies. It only applies to governmental entities.
On the flip side, people have a choice to not do business with companies that restrict access to anything too. That's why it is so rare. I'm doubting that Rackspace will lose much business for this.
Closed AccountSep 10, 2010
I'm not sure how it works in the US anymore. Are there contract lock-in periods on Internet service? Outside of mobile anyway.
phalanxcronosSep 13, 2010
Yes, I know, please re-read my post.
jedisushiSep 10, 2010
Good.
I would've made it 301 to the most horrifying pornography I could find.
Fundamentalist bigots are the American Taliban.
arcane14Sep 10, 2010
Service providers like Rackspace can enforce their TOS however they want. It's the government that (usually) can't discriminate based on ideology. Companies are free to do as they please.
somedrunkSep 10, 2010
Apparently he has put the option back on the table. Yay Friday!
lunarparcelSep 10, 2010
I have to admit, what I probably miss the most from Digg v3 was that the comments threads were usually filled with some interesting discourse and points of view.
Then, they transition to Digg 4 and now the comments threads are filled with grating teabaggers running around with their hands over their ears, shouting "LA LA LA..I'M NOT LISTENING TO YOU" because they're retarded teabagging assh**es. I'm not happy about that change at all.
You know what it's like? You know how you have a neighborhood, and there are some dogs in it? And then a police car goes by blaring it's siren, and all the dogs start barking like f**k all? And then the siren blaring trails off in the distance, and dogs quit barking?
All except that one assh**e dog whose brain got stuck on a looping auto-pilot, and continues to bark for several more hours?
Well,....that's the Digg 4 comments threads. Except instead of barking, they spout about how much Digg 4 sucks, and then they say that they are leaving.
And then they never f**king leave. They just keep barking.
philbertSep 10, 2010
The comments are the worst part about Digg4.
elwoodbluesSep 10, 2010
I wonder what would happen if I burnt some Scientology books? Would the President have a comment about that?
Probably not, since he's not a scientologist and scientologists don't tend to be suicide bombers or fly planes in buildings (they just jump on couches like rabid monkeys)
jjustin01Sep 10, 2010
Wow, I can't believe how stupid and retarded some of you are acting. First, we are not at "war" with Scientologists or Christians. Al Quaeda is a Muslim fundamentalist group. If some redneck, southern idiot wants to burn "a" Koran, no one is going to stop him/her. However, if a person wants to lead a demonstration to burn hundreds of Korans while gathering the attention of international press, then, yes, the government is going to take notice and intervene.
Seriously, has nothing sunk in over the years since 9/11? Have most of you not learned that Al Quaeda has it out for the U.S. because they believe the U.S. government doesn't give a rat's ass about them; and wouldn't think twice to display some sort of hatred or violent act towards Muslims? If the U.S. government sat by and let this jackass display a large, public display of hate towards ALL Muslims, you're idiots. It's our politicians' jobs to play politics. Part of playing politics is making sure that their constituants don't fuel the flames of hatred and terrorism. This guy isn't performing a demonstration of hate towards Al Quaeda or any other specific fundamentalist group. He's demonstrating hate towards an entire religion.
Oh, but it's alright. I mean, afterall, it was a group of Muslims who committed the acts of 9/11 so they must all be f**king assh**es who deserve to die. Well, why we're at it, let's hate all blacks because that one kid you grew up with beat you up or stole your bike. They must all be thieves and thugs. How about the Jews. That one jew guy who sold me my wife's wedding ring was a cheap bastard who wouldn't budge on his price. Don't even get me started on those Mexicans (f**kers). The white people: s**t, that one white guy down the street from me raped that little boy while dealing meth out of his stolen U-Haul. f**k all white people!
Oh, and if it is truly acceptable, in your minds, that Terry Jones be allowed to commence with a massive Koran burning, then you can't say s**t about a Mosque being built near Ground Zero. After all, it's a free country.
