Yes, that is why I don't buy the games that do that. You don't have any choice at all with a console. I'm sure the next gen console will require a connection to the internet as well, if not the gen after that.

The only two issues with DRM on a console is that discs are console specific and you can't play copies of games. Why would consoles require internet connections in the future?
The PS2 could easily be modified to play copied games and Sony didn't break out with the ridiculous DRM.
EDIT: And in the case of the PS3, downloaded games do have some restrictions, but most gamers wouldn't run into issues with those restrictions.

How could they stop it if the code is encrypted with 512 bit key and sent out everywhere, then 2 weeks later, boom, the 512 bit key is the 1st 512 bits of a well known poem? Or Obama's speech or song's lyric? I think hackers need to be smarter, and doing this with everything, including instructions, code, cheats, firmware, anything that needs widespread. In the beginning, just label it something like: Gift_Jan_30_2011.encrypted
Anyone wants to download it just do. 100% safe. They don't know what it is, unlikely to suffer prosecution. If there is law to protect this, just embed it inside a free oldie popular song. Then your intent is even clearer, just to download an oldie song. If you don't like song, just use some people's pictures.

I really only buy good games. being that most of the ps3 titles suck..
I ened up buying 2 to 3 titles a year for that platform.

So God of war, Little big planet, Last guardian (and Ico/shadow of colossus hd remake), Infamous, Metal Gear Solid, Ratchet and clank, Ni nu kuni, Journey (or anything by that game company) and the biggest contender for GOTY 2011 Uncharted 3 (just for some exclusive games... not including other awesome multiplat) suck... Hate to see what doesn't suck for you!!!

Metal gear solid ratchet and clank uncharted 3, 1 year.
Ico - Shadow of colosses (not even shipping yet.) 1 year.
LIke I said.. there are only 2 to 3 game a year for that machine that are worth playing. So it's not worth the time to hack the box..
Everything else that comes out for it is crap.

So to clarify you: (And I stated games around 2010 and 2011 so be in your 1 year time frame, either backwards and forward, but you still twisted it)
Little big planet 2 this month,(thousand games inside one game)! Last Guardian and Ico/Shadow within a few months/this year. Uncharted 3 November (again within this year). Killzone 3 next month. Ratchet and clank, jak and dexter, and sly cooper in form of Move Heroes out in two months (ok not a AAA game but good nonetheless). Ni nu kuni in a few months (it's an anime rpg similar to Dragon Quest). Journey (look it up, by the flow/flower company) this year.
Sylphon filter and Prince of Persia trilogies HD remakes already out (PoP- Eu)/ this year, and also Tomb raider HD remakes (but that's not such a great example...). Metal gear solid rising ok, there's no release date and it's for the xbox also, but we all know the better version will be on the PS3. Portal 2 in a few months, better version confirmed by the devs on the ps3. Twisted metal this year. The list goes on, and your last comment is blown to smithereens.
Oh by the way if you could name a handful of 2011 worthwhile games for the xbox, I would be very surprised. (And try to leave out multiplats, but if you really must....)

The bans are entirely temporary. People that scrubbed and reconnected could get on fine.
And black ops sucks anyway, who cares if you get banned from it? Real gamers play bad company 2.

Unfortunately, the console bans aren't temporary. They are mandated by Activision/Treyarch. Whoever told you scrubbing and reconnecting is either A) lying or B) lying. They have your mac address and with 3.56 and CFW 3.56 they have your mac and more. Real gamers play games, not "Game Title X".

And yes, the scrub does work. They didn't ban anyones mac address, they just block people currently on 3.55.

True, there are fake CFW 3.56s floating around that are nothing but OFW 3.56. However, KaKaRoToKS cracked 3.56 and released new keys on Github to sign packages. All with code that isn't FW dependent and let's Sony know what you're running, CFW or OFW. Sony isn't fighting offline consoles. If you knew what you were talking about, I'd continue this little debate, but since you don't, I recommend you do a little research before yapping like some poser tech wannabe.

I don't get it you JB your console then Sony comes out with a patch then we have to wait weeks to get a new JB. In the mean time you cant play on line, this just seems like a big headache and waste of time. If it were my guess, i think Sony is going to win the cat and mouse game, they have more resources and deeper pockets.

The issue has nothing to do with unpacking or finding the keys, but with being able to sign packages. They still haven't figured out how to do that and truthfully not many of them are working on it.

Honestly, I'm really upset about the CFW PS3s causing so much havoc in the lobbies of some MP games (cod4 is a prime example). All the kids are using the CFW to mod pretty much every public lobby making some games plain unplayable online.

actually,nothing is cracked as the title suggests. the firmware is only "unpacked", but to modify it and letting the ps3 CPU run this thing is another story. you see, the ps3 cpu has a decryption key thats in the SPU. this has not been hacked. What is hacked is the public key,which you use to sign apps. What the failoverflow team did was find the method to get this key,which geohot used to get the public key and publish it. But, sony has more the one public key,so they made new firmware which uses a different public key,which cannot be hacked like the first leaked key,because sony used a random number in the algorithm which generates the key,which they failed to do the first time. This is basically game over for this hack for now.Unless a new or different exploit is found.
