Pro-Palestinian Flash Mob Banned from YouTube (VIDEO)

blogs.riverfronttimes.com — YouTube unceremoniously removed the video in question, saying it was subject to a copyright challenge by WMG (apparently, the Warner Music Group). See this link for the brief message from YouTube. The group of activists who assembled the Brentwood flash mobs, the St. Louis Palestine Solidarity Committee, is now questioning the video's removal. As organizer Colleen Kelly points out, there are close to 1,000 YouTube videos showing flash mob-type performances or other recreations of Lady Gaga songs. Those haven't been taken down... THIS IS GREAT...and right up the street from my house. My Brentwood Best Buy had a flash mob protesting Israel's apartied in Palestine citing Motorola as a co-conspirator, and youtube took it down after 35,000 hits...damn...why would they do that?

Political organizations using copyright material are just that much more a problem for youtube in the legal sense than some random person dubbing a song over their holiday vacation.

Is there a defined line between fair use and public performance? The St. Louis Palestine Solidarity Committee, obviously, has a defined agenda, so I suppose they may not be allowed to use a song in the same way an individual/group's derivative performance on YouTube may?

The song leaves a lot to be desired. YouTube was justified in taking it down just for the suck factor.

Seriously... I like flash mobs for trivial things. They're fun and funny.

The end of the world can't come unless the Jews rebuild the temple. They can't rebuild the temple unless they take over the temple mount. They can't take over the temple mount if people are pro Palestinian.
