Why hasn't anyone asked the golden question? Will it run Crysis/Crysis2?

There should be a +1000 Thumbs up.

I highly doubt these things will be released any time soon, even though they're fully functional right now. first of all, the government wants access to these things first. current encryption would largely become useless against a personal quantum computer.
and most importantly, quantum computing would pretty much put all the chip makers out of business, at the very least drastically reduce their customer base. think about it, the only reason why we upgrade our pc's is because something takes 10 or 30 seconds instead of a minute and a half. when you get down to the scale of everything happening in a millionth of a second difference between applications big and small, you won't even notice a time difference, all programs will seem to run in real time.
of course they'll probably come up with more sophisticated programs that will take time to work even with that kind of processing power. but for the average user those small time differences will not matter as much. that is essentially how companies are able to sell us new computers. if there was only a 1 second difference between all programs you could possibly want to run, you'd be less inclined to bother upgrading. going from the chips we know today to quantum computers, is more astronomical in advancement than going from the wright brothers glider to the most sophisticated air craft we have today in the blink of an eye.

Is this a repeat from the '80s, the '90s or the '00s? Quantum computing makes great stories, but I don't believe we're anywhere close to really doing anything with it. It's like the fiber-optic computers they touted for years. It's all wonderful and futuristic, but there are miles to go with semiconductor technology, and serious fundamental problems with Quantum computing that will take decades to solve.
It's not that we shouldn't research it, but the sense of false hope that these articles have been creating for decades has left me sour on the whole idea.

So how do you feel about artificial intelligence?

Another technological breakthrough that will be falsely attributed to NASA in a few years (in addition to Velcro, Teflon, Tang, MRIs, microwave ovens and many others).

But will it run Portal 3?
