For $130 you get solid performance in all the latest titles up to say 22" screen resolution. Not bad actually and it's not a power hog even.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

"22" screen resolution" Do you know what you're talking about? Resolution and size has very little to do with each other with regard to the graphic card. Sure, you need large screen to have high resolution generally. However, if 22" and 28" or 55" (take a LCD TV for example) all have 1080P resolution (1920x1080), or WUXGA resolution (1920x1200), the graphics would do the same for each of them.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm talking about. At 22 - 23" you're generally running at 1920X10880 or perhaps 1920X1200 for something in the 24" class. Size does very much affect available screen resolution, which was my point. These cards are generally with panel sizes of 22" or less, because as you get up to 1920X1200 and higher (30" panels), they don't have the fillrate to drive something like 2560 res with high IQ settings.

Its stuff like this that is killing PC gaming. People have to upgrade so often to keep up with the games. I know $129 isn't a bad cost, but seriously, games push hardware farther and farther in such short amounts of time. Its one reason I started playing on consoles. Sure, a console can cost $400 or so and even more /cough Sony...but at least it will run for several years.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

my laptop from 2008 runs every game i throw at it..

have to?
no they dont.
a midrange GPU every 3de generation(3 years) should be plenty to keep up for the casual gamer.(casual as in plays new games, not plays flash)
after 5+ years most people upgrade the rest of their PC anyway.

An article about an affordable DX11 card and you only test 1 DX11 game? What a waste of a review.
renegadeafkSep 13, 2010
Theres not a whole lot of dx11 games, and the ones that are often don't really have any difference in dx11 mode (Battlefield BC2 for example)
This card looks good for the price, but still slower than my trusty 4870.

...seems a good product in an affordable price...

sorry nvidia, ~11 months late.
ATI already did this (hd5770 introduction: October 2009), and considering ATI wins on performance and power consumption for less then 10 dollars more, this isn't anything to be proud of.
add to that the fact that ATI chip is smaller, they will always be able to stay close to nvidia's pricing and still make more money.
not looking good for the green's here.

I have a 5770 and I love it.
