Its too bad motorola sucks just as much as apple
polyp2000Feb 1, 2011
Its a genius marketing idea. The only trouble i see with it is, most of today's iPhone devotees have probably never seen the 1984 advert. And the report on mashable isnt helping by not provinding a link to it either.

agree the reference is too vague to make the point clear to the majority of iphone users. on the other hand, that same majority isn't devoted to Apple like the hardcore fans are, so maybe they aren't the target of the ad in the first place. Maybe Motorola is just trying to get some attention from the press, where the inference is clearly understood.

I understand what the commercial is trying to say, but a creepy red planet does not look more inviting to me than a beautiful shot of Earth.

I think it would be better if they replicated the whole thing. But behind the giant screen was the apple logo, or an executive in a black turtle neck! (from one dictator to another). Then the atrix some how saves the day.

This is also for the Xoom, not the Atrix.

Direct link since Mashable seems to have somehow messed up their embed.

Is it just me or does the graphics and everything look like an amateur?
demdudeFeb 2, 2011
Totally, I can honestly say I've never seen worse looking fake earbuds...
wilhoitmFeb 3, 2011
The graphics look Photoshopped!

For some reason that ad made me think more of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy than 1984
wilhoitmFeb 3, 2011
The Motorola Ad is just going to sell more iPads and iPhones! It is like Hyundai making an Ad that makes fun of Mercedes or BMW!
wilhoitmFeb 3, 2011
The Ad is so bad I had to comment again. Instead of using symbolism and a metaphor like Apple's 1984 commercial, it just pops up unimaginative geek statistics.
