Hilarious.
How does digg solve its problems get rid of its userbase? What a bunch of idiots at Techcruch. They would never in a million years actively work to piss off their viewers, yet they're giving digg advice to do just that? :-S

I'd like to think I'm one of those 250k "morons" Arrington referred to, and he's dead wrong. I'm all for moving forward with your product; I've always given Facebook the benefit of the doubt when they revamp their site. However, Digg is not Facebook.
Digg is a user-influenced news aggregate, and before this revamp, the power was in the hands of the Users. Now it seems to be in the hands of the submitters, namely those who pay more.
I came to digg because I didn't want news crammed down my throat. Now I'm getting only a small trickle of what I used to because nobody is digging any stories anymore.
I never really went to tech crunch before, and thanks to their CEO's remarks, I definitely won't be coming back. Those 250,000 users you insulted were probably part of your core demographic. Way to go, asshat.

I already find myself spending less and less time on Digg. The site is too much like Twitter or Facebook in the sense that everything is now essentially what I consider "spam". What I always liked about Digg was that, even with the power users, it felt like the site was actually run by people, not bots or "applications". Now it's just like everything else.

People need to start sending feedback to the sites that are currently spamming Digg and let them know you will not visit their site until they stop spamming Digg.

One of the problems is that since major updates to websites usually come with backlash, then acceptance, they probably won't take us seriously. They just think "oh well, not everyone is going to like it, they rebelled against Facebook and Twitter when their s**t changed, and they're still alive. They'll get over it soon and move on with their mundane lives."
They've become jaded to internet criticism because of how often it has occurred and how little it has changed. I fear that our efforts to resurrect the old Digg are in vain. I hope my fears are baseless.

Don't gobble it up, it's called public relation or PR. Many companies have twitter and facebook accounts just for this and d-list celebrities thrive off twitter.

It has gone from a website where millions of people read, post and vote on interesting/comments to a dead site filled with dull direct submissions from major media conglomerates like time,engadget,mashable, etc.
It would be like ebay getting rid of private listing and only allowing companies like jcpenny, macy's, walmart, bestbuy, target, newegg and sears sell products on their site.

The big difference is that, unlike the Facebook changes, Digg v4 is an utterly different website than Digg v3. It's a glorified RSS reader now.

Yeah, Facebook's changes were for the better (most of them, and by that I mean design)
Their changes involved some designers getting their heads out of their asses and making the user interface more intuitive and far better (and expand for the future)
A bunch of whiny users decided that the new design changes sucked c**k and so they'd protest.
this is not what is occurring here on digg.
Here on digg, we have complete functionality change, and a design that makes no sense in most areas. The comment area is f**king far harder to read, and the site looks like s**t overall. A few of the JS changes are welcome, but otherwise, this place sucks.

I used to be able to tell when I created my account. With v4, I have no f**king idea when I joined. I'm guessing it was 2006, I know it was a long time ago. I've left a lot of comments, dugg a lot of stories, and submitted a few too. I came here five to ten times a day and enjoyed most of it.
But I have f**king had it. I was going to wait until the big Monday walk out but I can't. After reading the bulls**t Cashman piece on CNN and then seeing this come up as the next front page story... I can't take it anymore.
So f**king long!
If you want to slam the door on the way out, you have to email support@digg.com and request for your account to be deleted. They don't make it simple do they?

I can't believe Digg has turned into this. There use to be a time that this site was informative and was built on the submissions of users, not of media outlets. Kevin Rose should be ashamed, I have not seen one article on the front page of digg that has all the comments lambasting the website for laying down and sucking off the man. We all thought Digg v4 was just going to be cosmetic changes, the reality is far worse. I just don't understand how you can make that assumption about "what Digg v.4 is" while it's still incomplete and buggy.
Maybe I, as a chronic non-submitter, don't realize all the differences that all of the submitters notice. But it seems like this is more or less a public beta. Kevin Rose has normally been quite consistent in listening to Digg users' opinions when they dislike things. People should voice their complaints, but geez, people, be civil.
There's no reason to flip out against him like the people here have been. This place has turned into /b/ overnight.

man new digg sucks. i actually listened to the many comments posted on the stories and went to reddit. its design reminds me of craigslist but their top stories are submitted from users and are genuinely interesting and original. RIP digg.
