The only people who would pay this, given the choice of 3G are those who plan on using it for their whole house. No mobile phone warrants this type of bandwidth... yet.
bootlessjamDec 4, 2010
Americans are so cute thinking their 3G networks are 4G.
superman101Dec 4, 2010
Its pretty funny, 4G is now a marketing term.
macparrotDec 4, 2010
bootlessjam is so cute with his stereotyping
kidmajoraDec 4, 2010
Nobody here is cute at all, and in fact you're all pretty ugly.

You sure showed Americans that you are smarter than they are!

Buried because this dude calls Wimax 4G. It's not. This is a much better article: http://money.cnn.com/2010/12/01/technology/4g_myth/index.htm
It looks like AT&T is the only honest one out there when it comes to talking about 4G. Strange.
I think I'm going to string a couple of cans together and call it 5G.

All it really shows is that the International Telecommunication Union needs to change their definition to something that is not only more achieveable, but actually CARED about. Guewss what? 99.9999995 of people (and a full 100% of people with lives) do not give a flying f**k if their phones can ge anywhere NEAR 100 Mbps. So it will not be coming any time soon. The investment simply is not worth it.
It is just plain stupid to make such a huge jump in the definitions for 3G and 4G.
bigcalhounDec 4, 2010
This is such a non-story. The pricing mirrors the current revamped 3G pricing. The 5GB price-point is actually $9.99 less than what it was. I think this bodes well for smartphone users. Even knowing I've had unlimited data for all these years, I've never come close to 5GB, even on my current Android device. I'd gladly pay $29.99 (current price) and be capped at 5GB (which is what I'm hoping they will implement for smartphones).

With devices like the iPad and upcoming Android tablets the line between mobile devices and computers are going to become even more blurred. As such, many people may opt for a tablet computer as their only computer (especially if all they need is email, a browser, and few simple apps) and these data limits even at 5GB is going to be restrictive. If people start downloading movies, music, and games you could hit that limit probably pretty easy.

No they won't.

Bunch of Liars...What ever happened to honest advertising..Hasn't been any since Heinz started using Glass jars to prove what was in there...No such thing as 4G if it where then the ITU would agree 4G stands for

it seems like the saying - "All the things in life are free" is not necessary true.
eliadsonetDec 4, 2010
4g very perspective/
ogletreeDec 4, 2010
I have the sprint wireless hotspot and I pay $50 a month and I'm lucky to get 3Mb tops. If you can truly get 10Mb it is worth it for $80. I do agree they won't sell many of the $80 ones but there is already a market for the $50 ones. People are already paying for that for crappy sprint 4g.
internetradarDec 4, 2010
I wonder what will happen once we have so much bandwidth that we no longer know what to do with it? It's got to come some day, you can't keep advancing technology without hitting a brick wall sooner or later. Will be interesting to watch.

Why you have to be so greedy Verizon?
elsadisticoDec 4, 2010
Whats this? Verizon is another greedy company looking to gouge as many US citizens as it can? Surprise Surprise.
