They are keeping everyone guessing and waiting.
mikej708Feb 20, 2011
But is that really new to anybody that has been with apple products for a while though?
fxspec06Feb 20, 2011
I deserve a free iPhone. I've bought so many god damned iPods over the years that's the least Apple could do for me.
mikej708Feb 20, 2011
Yea so have I but who knows what they will do its apple and they always seem to change small things. So I guess we just have to wait and see what happens this year and what new products they come out with.

the funny thing about free phones is by the time you pay for two years of service they cost about $3000. att can totally afford to give everyone who signs a 2 year contract a "free" iPhone.
amaoicanFeb 20, 2011
I dunno buddy. You could get an iPhone with a $55/mo plan ($15 data, $40 voice) and your 2 year service would only cost $1320 - take out $600-700 for a free iPhone and all the costs associated with the services provided and pretty soon AT&T is out of business.

Why do you think that your stupidity deserves a reward?
chadfaaborgFeb 20, 2011
@dildopolis - This is the reason people don't like you.... beit on the internets or in real-life.
Anybody who negatively denounces others (the way you do) in order to boost themselves is either a troll, or a douche that's sucking at life. I think you're a bit of both.
Closed AccountFeb 20, 2011
I am not denouncing others, dumb f**k...I am pointing out a fact that someone who has bought several iPods simply becuase they have to have the newest version IS being stupid, and that kind of stupidity does not deserve areward.
People like me. I have NO desire to be liked by you or anyone at Digg. I would literally kill myself tomorrow if I ever realized that my life was like yours. Just as you consider doing every morning before dragging your sorry ass out of your lonely bed.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

'no I am not' 'dumbf**k' ' someone who does not agree with me IS stupid'
Contradictory much? You are so full of s**te the New York sewers are asking back for it.
shwaavayFeb 20, 2011
I like you.
Paying $200 for an mp3 player that only works with iTunes is stupid.... Mindless consumer drones...
breadfredFeb 20, 2011
fanboyism is just as bad as this anti-fanboyism. No, it is worse. You hate someone because they like something you do not. Now THAT is stupid.
shwaavayFeb 20, 2011
I don't hate, I merely pass judgement on lack of intelligence... likely caused by excessive fanboyism.
mikej708Feb 20, 2011
Sounds good but I think I am going to just stick with my iphone 4 for the time being unless the iphone 5 has some amazing new processor and or total redesign.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Translation - no one knows crap, and everyone is just making stuff up.

A thinner iphone would be cool but we still gotta put it in our hands. Cheaper i think is a great thing.

I think that IPhone Nano can destroy image Of Apple
agmlauncherFeb 20, 2011
Unless a cheaper iphone translates to cheaper monthly plans, then having a cheaper up-front cost is irrelevant. If you don't mind a 2 year contract, it only costs $199. That's peanuts compared to the $85/month you'll pay for almost minimum services.
Will a $100 iPhone only cost $50/month for the same services? If not, then who cares if it's $199 or $100. Besides, as the article states, the lower price points simply get occupied by older generation phones.
amaoicanFeb 20, 2011
"$85/month you'll pay for almost minimum services"
$15 for data. $40 for voice. $55 total. What is everyone smoking?
PS They are now advertising a $20 unlimited text & mobile calling plan - add that and it's still just $75/mo and you can text and call as much as you want as long as it's to a mobile.
agmlauncherFeb 20, 2011
$15 for data nets you a whopping 250mb, which almost defeats the purpose of having an iPhone :(
And you need some kind of texting plan.
$25/data $40/voice, $10/1000 texts + $10 in taxes/fees = $85/month.
$20 unlimited text & mobile calling sounds very tempting, but that means being unable to make calls to many businesses :(
amaoicanFeb 20, 2011
I guess what I was saying is that the marginal cost of an iPhone is NOT $85/mo, and that's not what you were arguing exactly. My apologies - I was just responding to a bloke who was saying that the iPhone "costs $3000!!!" by the time you consider the contract - which is BS:
If you need only voice and data then the marginal monthly cost of the iPhone is $0 because they don't force you into buying any extra services.
If you need voice but not data, then the marginal monthly cost is $15 because you _have_ to buy a data plan that you don't want/need.
If you also need text the marginal monthly cost is an extra $0 assuming you would have added the text plan regardless of device.
If you want an iPhone but you don't need voice OR data then the marginal monthly cost is $55 - but why not just buy an iPod Touch?
What makes things more complicated is the possibility that the iphone will change your behavior. If you don't currently use texting but you think buying an iPhone will cause you to become an addict and use 10k texts per month you will want to buy the $20/mo unlimited plan, at which point the marginal cost of the iPhone is an additional $20/mo. On the other hand, you also need to take into account the value of the texting - if you agree to pay $20/mo for unlimited texting, then the texting plan is worth at least or greater than $20/mo and you have actually profited (in the sense of value - cost).

What we need is the new iPhone 5 not iPhone nano.
newmanium2001Feb 21, 2011
Apple wants to make a cheaper iPhone? Stop marking it up so much... that's not very hard.
