LMAO! Yes.... Puhleeeez!?!
rumblestrutAug 28, 2010
I hate to say this, but for the first time in years my browser no longer opens only to digg.com. I also added reddit to open in another tab.
Congrats digg, you rolled out a real piece of s**t.
taiboAug 28, 2010
You know your website is s**tty when reddit looks pretty by comparison.
rumblestrutAug 28, 2010
Ugh. I know, I know. At least Reddit doesn't give me a page that tells me how f'd the website is half the time I try and view it - laptop or iPhone. So sad.
mabsarkAug 28, 2010
Just install a userscript, http://userstyles.org/styles/browse/reddit.com

ma77h3wAug 28, 2010
I dunno. I think digg now looks way better. So much tidier and neater. I'm not a hardcore user, so probably wont notice if they've removed any features? But overall, I'm a lot happier with it now. Reddit looks pretty pants from my quick browse over there.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Seriously, I had an early invite, checked it out and went straight back to using the old site. I like the look of the new site but the functionality compared to the old sucks. I will not be visiting here as often.
akutacoAug 28, 2010
I did the same exact thing. I realized this design is trash when I couldn't find the bury button anymore.
envirochemAug 30, 2010
I also had an early invite but quickly went back to the old Digg because I liked it better. The new Digg just sacrifices too many good features.

This is seriously retarded. Been here since 2006, and I'll remove my account in the next few days if this garbage isn't fixed. I don't want some crappy rss feeding me filtered news. It's not legitimate nor is it transparent. Automatic submissions from publisher feeds is the worst most anti-digg idea possible. Kevin Rose is a f**king retard. It looks like he took marketing lesson from a retarded fish frog and now he's got a serious case of Lucas syndrome.
All I've been doing the last few hours is imagining this assh**e at the company meeting, "ok folks, we're ride this bull by the horns and what were gonna do is take this site from the users and hand it over to the the media conglomerates who own the the top 10 news sites. I tell ya it's gonna be good!"
12340987Aug 30, 2010
Can't seem to load more stories either when I click at the bottom.
And I login to digg this one article and it loads nothing, because digg has totally sold out.
Can't blame em, I want money too.
innerdenialAug 30, 2010
I went to check out Reddit because the new digg sites a real mess. Little did I know just how much of a mess Reddit was! I even checked in 2 browsers, thought the CSS must have loaded incorrectly. Seriously, who really thinks that Reddit is a good looking site? Digg 4 is bad, but not that bad!Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
greenkermitAug 29, 2010
it almost seems as though larger websites are paying for their content to be top. omg! Im giving digg a week to change back, if they really care about their community, they wont let it be run by mainstream bulls**t. in the meantime popurls.com

Why the Bury option is important.
1) Allows good to get to the top, and filters out the bad.
2) Empowers the Digg users for good, and yes evil. <cough DPs>
3) Gives Digg users the ability to control the News.
What makes Digg different than RSS feeds is that Digg was controlled by the Diggers.
The Report button introduced a 3rd party with power over what users read.
This effectively destroys the sense of the community Digg once had, by removing the Digg users’ ability to control the News.
How to deal with Digg Patriots w/o removing the bury button!?!
- Analysis of how Digg Patriots work.
- Digg Patriots have built a social network to control what type of news hits the front page.
- Strategy: As a group they target stories to bury.
Counter strategy: Do Diggers like the DPs?
- The only people who like what the Digg Patriots do are the DPs.
- Put a tab for the “Most Buried News” in 24 hours, 7 days, and 30 days.
- Let the Digg and Bury War Begin!!!
mike42979Aug 28, 2010
- Put a tab for the “Most Buried News” in 24 hours, 7 days, and 30 days.
This is one of the best ideas i have heard, they can even get crafty with the name of the tab, 6ft Under, Graveyard, Hell etc... And they can be rated by most buried. This will completely f**k the bury Brigade as i would surely check out the most buried stories in addition to the most dugg.
anothersoldierAug 29, 2010
excellent idea
zoomigoAug 28, 2010
"ability to control the News" <- That's the scariest part of what you said.
diptheriaAug 28, 2010
What the f**k do you think Digg has been doing since it started but allowing its users to control the content...for f**ks sake, it's in the goddamn name of the service! And beside that, do you think that news controls itself? That it is some sort of magically neutral self promoting thing? Grow the f**k up.

What is worse? An inability to keep stories you believe are irrelevant off the front page or the ability for a select few to organize and censor. The bury button is NOT one of my issues.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
maximillionteeAug 28, 2010
Genius! You should submit the "Most Buried" idea to the team via email! I'd spend half my time on the most buried, just because I'd be so curious as to what all the fuss was about! lol
smacksawAug 29, 2010
I have said many times in the past that diggs alone are not enough to determine popularity, we need to measure the most active stories. If an article has 200 diggs and 100 buries, in my opinion it has 300 diggs. That's how I see it. If people care enough to fiddle with an article, it's there.
To me, it's like high school. Some kids are popular, some are unpopular and some are notorious. Notoriety matters as well.
Closed AccountAug 27, 2010
Why having a friend’s submits section is important.
1) Removal of a friend’s submits section from Digg increases Power user’s power.
2) Allows you to track your friends submits over time.
3) Allows you to search your friends submits.
4) Allows non power users to see their friends’ submits.
Power users already have a network outside of Digg, be it a Blog, Facebook, Twitter or other means to up vote their friends submits.
You are not prohibiting Power User’s Activities.
You are as dumb as DRM!
You are punishing Average Users, preventing Average Users from enjoying your site.

drcupcakeAug 28, 2010
It's obvious the new site was designed by a mac fanboy. Aesthetics over usability, and the site doesn't even look good, and controls even worse.
cheezygrinAug 28, 2010
I find my macs perfectly usable, thanks. I agree about the site, however.
echelonistAug 28, 2010
Never have been one of Kevin's fan for I never watched any of its shows, but I have respect for what he has entrepreneurial character and past (make no mistake: and future) accomplishments. You come here, not paying a single dime for Digg since (probably) many years and you feel entitled to insulting the guy? What have you done so great yourself? Never had any fail? Even if Digg melts on himself, M.Rose gave me something great for many years and will in all probability will resume to do so in the future; you sir gave us nothing, so I say f**k YOU - YOU.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Login didn't work properly for me since they made allowing Facebook javascript a requirement to login.
By default my browser blocks facebook javascript; but I needed to stick in an exception for digg.
Well, if digg started sucking worse than reddit, I guess I can drop that exception since I don't think I'll be logging in here much more.

I enjoyed in a perverse way the log in giving the forbidden message.
shadowspawnAug 28, 2010
Follow everyone who posts a link or a blog about how this s**t sucks, pay attention to the activity, and digg the article. This is the only way to make this work, to have them listen.
Take this fight to their door using their own technology they forced up our ass without even using lubricant.
I don't think they wanted all their users to band together and turn us all into super-users, but that's what's happening to us as a mob, using mob mentality. Those who are vocal about the change now outweigh every spammer or power user. You think any other power user had the power that they just gave us? Just follow each other and digg the articles, blogs, google-linked news stories about how digg just done f**ked up.

dexempluAug 28, 2010
It's not that just a few features are broken, the entire facelift is s**t and the site is less unstable than a house of cards on water. They launched it too early and I'm doubting they thoroughly betatested it before launch.

hermmunsterAug 29, 2010
I've the same feelings. I don't mind an Apple story here and there. We've been having so many for a company that's really only relevant in a few areas of my life, that I felt inundated with unimportant content. I bury most of them. The same with Microsoft.

Don't like the l"load more" button...hate it...bring the page by page back...
cryonixAug 28, 2010
The "Load More" button on comments when there is actually nothing to load, a message pops up letting you know there's nothing to load, and the button disappears... Why go through all that effort when you should just REMOVE THE BUTTON before hand!
Also now if you have the comments set to show a number per "page", it counts replies. So if the first thread has 60 replies and sub comments, you only get that 1 parent comment on the first page.
chrisvazquez1Aug 28, 2010

JUST TO PARAPHRASE what the AMAZING engineers who built the old Amiga computer (best digital product ever built IMHO) wrote when Commodore got their hands on it and tried to make it something special:
"WE BUILT DIGG, THEY f**kED IT UP".
Yes, shock horror, the users made Digg what it was, and now the owners have f**ked it up.
rpcraftAug 28, 2010
Is it just me or has digg really just gone downhill every since they got rid of diggspy? Can we please get diggspy back? I liked the fact that all the news used to run on a ticker and we could digg it as it got posted. This crap now sucks. How bad is it when Reddit makes more sense?

whats wrong with using your kevinrose account?
ericgAug 28, 2010
What killed it for me is the removal of the content filtering .. Oh how I loathe to see what this years coming elections will look like with all the Ron Paul bots spamming stories.. at least with filtering I could just remove the "Politics" section and not have to suffer through either sides story spam .. well at least there is the "sinkhole" greasmonkey script .. it helps to suppress stories you really dont gave a dammed about so at least you don't have to see them in your web browser..
please please for the love of kittens, bring back the user section preferences.. the signal to noise ratio of digg is really going to turn to garbage without it..
user500Aug 28, 2010
sad thing are the Ron Paul bots are more respectable to the Rand Paul bots which also bring racism to the table as well as Ron themed rants.

Kevin claims digg usage is "extremely good" after the release of v4 (http://kevinrose.com/). Why? Because digg's real user are desperately trying to get the problems noticed!! The top 5 stories are all complains about the new digg. They have hundreds of comments with lots of diggs for each comment.

Way to alienate all of your existing users by trying to appeal to the mass market of new users. You deserve to fail with this mess you have thrust upon us.
