I don't know how true this will turn out to be, but I'm forcing myself to use the bumper now just in case.
brockatkinsonOct 10, 2010
Should be the case for all phones that are delicate. I have an HTC Desire, and I feel weird going out without either case (I've got a leather pouch and a plastic sleeve), because I've seen far too many smashed iPhones in my time.
smogerOct 9, 2010
gee.. who could have ever predicted that using more glass than necessary on a small device that travels everywhere with us, gets thrown into bags, jostled around, and dropped would be a recipe for disaster?
oh, right. every cell phone manufacturer other than apple.
bugmenot2Oct 13, 2010
BUT IT LOOKS SO COOL!

Every time a writer uses ~gate for a scandal they automatically lose any credibility

Nope, it isn't.

Stop putting -gate after every minor inconvenience you want to blog about it's f**king lame.

Apple-gate

Christina?
microview2007Oct 10, 2010
and how is it, this is a flaw with the phone?
bugmenot2Oct 13, 2010
It's a flaw because the glass on the back is weaker and lower quality than the glass on the front (front glass is alkali aluminosilicate glass, but it is NOT Corning's Gorilla Glass. Some people have mistakenly called it that because iFixit called it that initially, but they later retracted that statement). Having both sides of the phone covered in glass makes for a fragile device.
jmpowell1982Oct 13, 2010
How is this not a flaw in the 3rd party manufacturers though? I'm not defending Apple. But don't they make a product, and then the 3rd party makes the accessory to go with the already manufactured product? I think people look for anything to throw against the wall and see if it sticks when it comes to the Apple vs the World debate.
schrutefanOct 13, 2010
But the third parties are still licensed by Apple. So rather then telling the public not to buy the slip-on cases, they simply removed them from their own store and will continue receiving the extra revenue.

Did Digg just change the Top News page? I'm seeing things on page 1 that I commented on 3 days ago mixed in with new stuff that just made it to the Top News page in the last hour.

I love digg so much that even if this was a story from 4 days ago, I would still digg it hard and comment profusely about it's elegance.

Is front-page gate the next digg-gate? Find out after I resubmit this story a few more times....

I wish my ipod was dialing numbers, OH SNAP NOW IT DOES!
rchargelOct 13, 2010
I can't believe I am defending apple, but it's not really their fault. It sounds like the problem is with the case manufacturers. Apple should just post a warning about the problem with a list of cases to avoid.

I have no problem with this article but it's on my news and I definitely have no idea what the hell it is or who posted it.
