"“Tell my boss I’m going to be 15 minutes late.” Upon recognizing the command, the app then searched the user’s contact lists and social networks until it found someone designated as “boss”. The app would subsequently transcribe the command and send it as a text to the recipient in question. Bad ass."
Hahaha yeah right. What a complete waste of time. I wouldn't trust this any more than I would trust Facebook with my credit card info"
"Tell my boss I'm going to be 15 minutes late" will wind up sending something along the lines of "You're fat and I want to break up with you" to your girlfriend accidentally.

Technically the auto-correct is not speech-to-text, but it illustrates how poor computers are at putting what you're saying into actual context. Not even Watson was able to accurately understand the context of questions sent to it....
I will never use this feature.
Meanwhile what I would use proper live video/audio streaming so I can stream whatever is on my iPhone to my TV (whether it's audio or video) without the need to buy a proprietary AirPort router (I have a DLNA TV, a PC, and a Linksys router, why should I have to buy yet ANOTHER device that does the same thing the stuff I already own does????) or a proprietary cable.
Then my phone can be properly integrated into my home entertainment system.

This tech is best integrated into an HDTV or set top box and activated via trigger word. So you can wak into a room and say "TV, ESPN" in normal voice and the TV will turn on (if its off) and switch to ESPN. You should also be able to say things like "TV, record Macgyver in the background". Obviously you would use a rarer trigger word than "TV" and it should be changeable so that multiple devices wont think u'r sending it a command.

This is a nice feature. Except for the "reserve a table" part you've been able to do this on Android since 2.0 though. I always use voice search on my phone instead of typing stuff in.
If they integrate it into iTunes and other apps (which the article implies) it could be really cool though.
