I thought algore invented the internet /s
bukowskyNov 23, 2010
The story I heard, was that Senator Ted Stevens put together this series of tubes, and thus, the internet was created.
macbookformeNov 23, 2010
but AlGore surely cashed it up...
TomHanks4Nov 24, 2010
it's not a truck
weirddemonNov 24, 2010
That's what the communists would have you believe
crazyNamNov 25, 2010
Yep, that's right. It's not a truck................but it IS a missle! lolz
ScienceTrumpsReligionNov 24, 2010

luv2luvNov 23, 2010
Al Gore clearly will have something to say about this

So...someone is butt hurt that the PEOPLE are not choosing the use the internet the way he wants them to?
Closed AccountNov 24, 2010
1. You did not read the article.
2. Nowhere did he ask people to use the Internet 'the way he wants'
3. You clearly have no knowledge about the topic of net neutrality.
4. Your opinion on this topic will continue to wobble until Fake Noise tells you what to believe.
I can't decide if you are willfully obtuse or just a natural...

He is critical of sites for not being "open" like he WANTS. That is wanting people to use the internet the way HE wants.
It is the PEOPLE that chose to make Facebook popular.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
camilos007Nov 24, 2010
The thing is .... ah forget it. If you don't understand something so obvious, we'll all just be wasting our time trying to explain it.
teebirdNov 24, 2010
@Camilos007 Look at some of Chileanminer's other comments on Digg. He's just some jackass with too much time on his hands...in other words, a troll. Give him all the attention he deserves...less than zero.
davidtcNov 24, 2010
Wow, 9 straight comments of spam. I think that is a new record.
lightfallsupNov 24, 2010
Don't say that. Records are made to be broken.
crazyNamNov 25, 2010
Teach us to strt up a spaming campaign.
Milkyway420Nov 24, 2010
Good read. Totally agree about Facebook being a security hazard. People enter their security info like it's going out of style. lol.
lightfallsupNov 24, 2010
And too often they don't seem to be mindful about how the people they give their info to intend to use it.
crazyNamNov 25, 2010
It is a bit of a security hazard, but isn't everything nowdays?
replaysmikeNov 24, 2010
While it is an interesting argument - I completely disagree. Corporations and individuals are free to setup closed systems if the demand to use them is there. It has encouraged innovation - because if people get sick of your stuff they'll go to the other guy and get their stuff, open or not.
While I am a supporter of open systems - there are times it simply works better if there aren't a thousand companies leeching off the data your infrastructure provided.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
skaven55Nov 24, 2010
You missed his point. He said that the closed systems and walled gardens stifles innovation and delays growth. He didn't say or imply that anyone should not be free to create what they want in the way they want.

I would support this argument. Even though I'm a fan of iTunes, thinking about it literally, I wouldn't want just one company making decisions for the millions.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

iTunes has a fan?
danbarkerNov 24, 2010
I think this guy is Steve Jobs. He is the only person who thinks iTunes is good.
toddyb3Nov 24, 2010
facebook is so lame
hipmanNov 24, 2010
And you are soooo cool for saying that.
danbarkerNov 24, 2010
so it www.lamebook.com (its rather quite funny to be honest)
roberttraczgroup14Nov 24, 2010
an eye opener=)
nytekkNov 24, 2010
This is a little bias in my opinion. Old folks need to get with the times.
neotechniNov 24, 2010
*biased
breadfredNov 24, 2010
This old guy is more with the times then many of us.
pethanksNov 24, 2010
Well, that's his freedom of expression. But I think he has also the point.
talonhNov 24, 2010
You should learn to speak English a little better before you pretend to be a businessman from L.A., muneer
cplusplusNov 24, 2010
Berners-Lee is right! We need to keep it open. Facebook takes but doesn't give.
phpldNov 24, 2010
I think this is why so many people were concerned when Digg made all the changes, and thank goodness Digg has chosen to remain open.
Kenneth331Nov 24, 2010
I dnt understand what the hell is going on.
bigtime2Nov 24, 2010
Did you read the article?
crazyNamNov 25, 2010
Neither do I, but I have a little bit about it. Here's the story. Someone (judging from the headline) is critercizing facebook.
toddyb3Nov 24, 2010
I guarantee I am cooler than hipman. I am social outside of the Internet.
hipmanNov 24, 2010
It's not just a name, you know.
ashkoNov 24, 2010
Typical users aren't disturbed of this problem
agmlauncherNov 24, 2010
The concept of limiting information to one ecosystem or making it exclusive to one device is just awful...

Good article. I've had many of the same concerns, and you probably have too. Read this.
harrisbradleyNov 24, 2010
Shut up Mr. Gore.
imayberight8Nov 24, 2010
Facebook is getting too powerful. I'm considering getting out of my membership.
