Yes, but this is a third party offering to do it...not Apple.

That means one of two things:
1) you either need to jailbreak your iPhone to do this, which puts you in the land of the hunted and unsupported, with Apple shutting down that jailbreak as soon as they can, or
2) Apple will shut this loophole down directly as soon as they can
If Apple didn't offer it, it can't exist.

Not true...Apple allowed the Opera Browser which only got approved because it did something different than Safari and that was compressing data through a proxy server... Also, it's in the App Store which means Apple has already approved it...so yeah...
