I saw the video and it works a bit like the Twitter for iPad app.
That is a good thing.
It basically makes things more convenient. You click on a tweet and automatically get a pane with the picture it has, or with the profile of the user + the replies, or the tweets that have the same trending topic.
The iPad app is still better, thou.
