Not sure if it's my computer showing its age or my typing going to inhumanly fast levels, but I seem to type faster than the predicted phrases come up.

What's the value in this though? I mean for non Google fanboys who don't get excited every time Google releases a product they most definitely will starve till it dies.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

When it's working decently it'll be hugely useful for keyboards in Android devices. Not a huge scope apart from that which I can see though.

You're an idiot.
Digg isn't dead because Kevin changed it and now the website uses larger sources for actual news. Digg died the day that people caught on to the trend that "The top ## <insert interest here>" stories would always cover actual news. Digg became nothing but a spot for indulging articles and a competition to make the wittiest comment.
Kevin didn't kill digg. You did.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

bellaluvpinkSep 8, 2010
this is amazing function for google.
sputnikvSep 8, 2010
i wonder if the people commenting actually tried it. it's not that great at all, if anything it gets in the way by suggesting unnecessary things to finish already complete sentences. it's too cumbersome checking to see if anything it suggests is useful to be efficient at allComment is buried, click here to see the rest.
cloudberriesSep 8, 2010
It confuses me slightly. What's its purpose? Is it for people who struggle to compose even the most basic of sentences?
If it were a live, context sensitive spellchecker, I'd be impressed. But no. No it's not.
sputnikvSep 8, 2010
tell me people that bury me, do you disagree with me? try it, it sucks
elwoodbluesSep 8, 2010
WHERE THE f**k IS THE DIGG DOWN BUTTON?
This is nothing but a toy for the google fan boys.
richidSep 8, 2010Staff
The Report link is at the top, right under the description. It functions exactly the same way as the bury button.
wazupmanSep 8, 2010
In the future will we be able to see who 'buried/reported' an article? Or at least how many people reported it?
richidSep 8, 2010Staff
Personally, I would really like to see this and I am pushing for it. That being said, I don't know what the final result will be.
Side note: You just exposed an interesting race condition since you posted a comment, which I replied to, and then deleted it. So thanks for that.
angosturaSep 8, 2010
Really? "Report" and "Bury" sound like two completely different functions.
Bury sounds like a vote down against a piece of content, handled algorithmically. "Report" sounds like 'send this piece of content to a human for manual intervention as inappropriate, triggering its possible removal and possible banning of the submitter".
If the two functions are actually identical, you have a major usability problem and should re-label 'report' as 'bury' and introduce a new 'report' function that actually allows people to report inappropriate content,
Or is mislabelling 'Bury' as 'Report' a bit of social engineering to stop people burying things?
Whchever is the case, it's a usability snafu which needs to be fixed.
richidSep 8, 2010Staff
Thanks for the constructive feedback, I'll pass it along.
paduraSep 8, 2010
No, it doesn't. Completely different functions.
richidSep 8, 2010Staff
Are you sure? Because I'm staring at the code path right now and I'm pretty certain it does.
unfriendlyfireSep 8, 2010
The old bury function negated one digg. The new report function does not do that.

Use the report button.
That's what I use when I don't find the bury button.

That's quite neat, once you realise it's context sensitive. Although still got a long, long way to go until it actually produces things that make sense.
Hey Google. Why don't you predict I'm going to type "Hello, how are you? I hope you're _well_"
Not "Hello, how are you? I hope you're not going to be able to see this on the map or by adding a new direction for their European operations in Norway"Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
