Sounds awesome, but the dream of controlling everything in your home from a central PC has been around for 30 years. The technology has always been there; X10 devices can control power to anything, allowing you to turn it on or off remotely. It's still pretty much a niche, because yes, you can spend $100 to get your PC to automatically turn on a lamp... or you can just get off your lazy ass and flip the switch.

Fully integrating control with home devices takes it to the next step, and requires manufacturers to add the Android control hardware. It looks to me like a chicken-and-egg problem; a lot of manufacturers won't embrace it until the technology takes off in the marketplace, and the marketplace won't embrace it until it's available from a lot of manufacturers.

While we've been dreaming of home automation, controlling things in your home from your PC "Jetsons-style" since the 60's, smartphones really up the ante, and it's really cool to see Google step Android up to be able to handle not only standardized X10-style devices, but also custom devices using this ADK.
That really opens up your smartphone to not only be a smartphone, but to actually potentially control anything and everything that wish for it to control.
