This isn't surprising, but I'm wondering why it has taken so long.
rufiohoFeb 9, 2012

about to kill the game but amazon is doing cloud very very very well

How is it about the kill the game?
What "games" have google ever killed? Hotmail and Yahoo Mail are still on top by a lot. Facebook still doesn't even know Google+ exists (nor does anyone else) Paypal laughs at Google Checkout.

Sound like a good idea, just needs to be implemented correctly

I'm sure Google will do very well since so many people already use their search engine and other things they provide out there for people to use. They know how to market themselves very well!

Other than search, most of Google's services are not used by all that much.

I don't know how to tell you this but boy are you wrong lol.

I have a feeling that Google has been in the cloud storage arena for quite a long time. Even if it's only in research and development, they have had their eyes on this prize for quite a while.

y u no google docs? all it would have to be is a new front end for gdocs, which will store anything. and i guess a desktop app.

I hope it's mind-blowing given the wait.

Way to be innovative and ahead of the curve there Google.

Gee..how did they come up with the word the word "drive"? So similar to Microsoft's Skydrive.
So innovative.

So google challenges the government over SOPA, but sits idolly by while the founder of mega upload goes to jail for the rest of his life? Seemed very strange until they announce they are ready to swoop in and absorb all of Mega Upload's legitimate customers.

Wait...what?
1. Baht did you expect Google to do? Fight the government over Megaupload?
2. Megaupload had NOTHING to do with the reasons why most companies (and even PEOPLE were fighting SOPA. I hate to be the one that brings you back from your delusional fantasy world...but most people are NOT in favor of piracy. Nor are most people against the Megaupload prosecution. People were against SOPA because it would have allowed that sort of thing to happen based on accusations only. But with Megaupload, they were THOROUGHLY investigated for quite a long time (while allowed to remain active) before being taken down for what even most pirates agree is illegal. Unlike The Pirate Bay, Megaupload HOSTED the files that they knew were illegal. And obviously made a fortune on it
