Not very safe for me
linageeJan 10, 2011
Not sure I understand "showy" door opens/closes. If your car door takes 15 seconds to open, what happens if there is a c**kpit fire or if there is another reason to get out in a hurry?

Unless everyone gets one and they completely redesign road and highways then this is just a cool idea
amossologyJan 9, 2011
It's going to be very difficult to have sex in that car.
preppywhiteguyJan 9, 2011
or if you drive that car.
jayskullsJan 9, 2011
Getting hit by an 18 wheeler will definitely burst your bubble.
myztryJan 9, 2011
Calling it a car is a bit of a stretch. I think "enclosed mobility scooter" would be more suitable.

Must be locale specific.
Just Google "enclosed mobility scooter" and switch to images.

If you live in a large Metro area, then this would be okay for three or four-mile trips to the store, the post office, etc. Nothing more. But then again: why not have the city buy a 1,000 or so of these and leave them around for people to reserve, do their errands, and then leave them charging?

Trips to the store? For what? a STICK of gum? Anything more and there is no room in the "car" to bring it back.
linageeJan 10, 2011
Go to the store, decide what you want, have it delivered. Then realize you could have skipped the goofy car step and just browsed online.

But how will this car deal with potholes?
It needs more bubblewrap...
Closed AccountJan 9, 2011
Forget potholes. How will this deal with small cracks in the road. Or pebbles? Or a little sand?
leland1Jan 9, 2011
Is that a Hoover or Dyson vacuum cleaner that they're inside of, and are dust masks included with purchase?

The thing that bugs me is how cars still need clutches and gears to accelerate. The bubble car shown here offers something closer to whats already use in F1 car racing tech at the moment. Also why do people car licences to drive? We need software that can allow any adult to drive without all the hoo haa. of getting a licence or causing car crashes.
linageeJan 10, 2011
You need a license to authorize your car crash. If you had a computerized car that didn't need a human driver, obviously you would never crash and thus, never need a license.

It's a coffin on two wheels.

icangeekJan 10, 2011
This is dope! It's a safer Segway, ahhaha, and you can take a friend! I don't know about on the street, but looks like we are getting closer to the Jetsons!
