$105/month with Triple Play, $199/month standalone. Love the speed, but damn that is expensive.
dajobeApr 14, 2011Staff
Hello, it's Comcast.
richidApr 14, 2011Staff
...not sure why I'd expect anything else!
dauntless1Apr 15, 2011
Also, it's only that fast without throttling. NEVER gonna happen with Comcast.
norman619Apr 15, 2011
Or any other cable company on a residential account. If you had a business account it's different.
louiebaurApr 14, 2011
Yea I agree, I think I am gonna just stick with my Fios setup.
directmylinkApr 14, 2011Submitter
I think at this point with my addiction to Internet speeds... I'd probably pay it. If I were in a Comcast area, that is.
hediggmeApr 14, 2011
And they make you buy landline phone service. Like I'll ever use that s**t.
norman619Apr 15, 2011
Comcast doesn't have "landline" services. They aren't a telco. They give you voice over IP.
mrteflonApr 15, 2011
Agreed Norman I have two units One for Voip and one for Docsis 3 Internet (Business) Have to say it the phone works flawlessly
hediggmeApr 15, 2011
That's a distinction without difference for the consumer.
norman619Apr 15, 2011
That's just ignorance since the difference actually does matter.
dusanmalApr 15, 2011
Incorrect. Cap is 250GB. Hence, at best you can get approximately 0.1MBps of sustained transfer (approximate calculation: 250GB/(30x24x60x60sec) = 0.1MB/s). Note: you are paying for Internet ACCESS which means by definition that you can access the Internet 24/7, not some fraction of that time.Peak transfer speed may be 100MBps but GUARANTEED service (access 24/7 and 250GB cap) is 0.1MBps.
norman619Apr 15, 2011
Bingo.
bossm4nApr 14, 2011
Well, on the days you actually have service, you might get those speeds.
ruded0gApr 15, 2011
Great 100Mbps service, what's the bandwidth cap?
cherwilcoApr 15, 2011
250 GB per month
nathanloehleinApr 15, 2011
Which apparently can be used up in under 6 hours:
http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum/r24520442-whats-the-cap
malicexcxApr 15, 2011
Whats the speed good for when they cap you at 250gb? Thats something they fail to mention.
sevenvtApr 15, 2011
Its true, though they would say all but the top 1% of subscribers ever hit the 250gb repeatedly. I haven't, at least not that I've noticed, and I pretty much stream netflix and hulu 24/7
malicexcxApr 16, 2011
Last month I went over 500gb, and havent heard anything from my ISP yet, so I guess Im good.
shivabeachApr 15, 2011
the servers you connect to probably wont run at that speed. Still up to network congestions. Not to mention the phone service is nothing compared to vonnage. I have Comcast now and usually run around 15-20 mbs. Its darn reliable though
webjosephApr 15, 2011
Woot!
sevenvtApr 15, 2011
100 mb paid for, 20 mb of which is all you will see (max) if you live on earth in a zone serviced by comcast where there is another customer also using the internet. No guarantee for any sustained bandwidth. Its like paying 1000 dollars for pepperoni pizzas, and the pizza place holds the right to deliver however many pizzas they see fit, even if its just 1.
nysusApr 15, 2011
Actual throughput on A wireless n router will maxes out at about 50 or 60 Mbps. So you'll have to wire all your devices to take full advantage of these speeds.
goweigusApr 15, 2011
I don't understand why such speeds are ideal, do I not understand how the internet works or do most websites not even deliver content fast enough to take advantage of the crap Comcast has given for years?
shadowmanjackApr 15, 2011
What I want is internet with matched UPLOAD speed. I have RCN, and while I get a max of 10 mb/s download speed, I get 0.7 mb/s upload. Not even really fast enough to Skype and online backup with Carbonite takes ages.
imtheone989Apr 15, 2011
I'll stick with SBC...Yahoo...At&t, whatever the hell it is now. At 6mb i see around 600k download. With comcast's 12mb service around here the most i have seen is between 800-950k and its almost twice as much. I had Comcast before and it was horrible, there we're several days out of the month when the service was down or it was so laggy it felt like i was on a 56k modem. They have made an enemy with their overcharged pricing and s**tty service.
Pdub_killaApr 15, 2011
With 100Mbps you could eat that cap up in a day. I bet they conveniently charge you another $199.00 after.
ryanwbApr 15, 2011
I'll believe it when I see it
My home data connection speed is advertised at 25 Mbps, but the best I see is maybe 15 at 3 am on Tuesday, on average I get 8 - 10. It's not like it impacts my ability to do what I need to do, it's just the principle of the thing.
shivabeachApr 15, 2011
You are getting 25 at your service outside the house incoming. You are not getting it going out and coming back in because of network congestion
