What is digg going to do to stop spam?
dirtyfriesSep 10, 2010
Making it so crappy that people won't visit. Spammers won't bother trying anymore.
zalysterSep 10, 2010
I lol'd.
trevorbradleySep 10, 2010
I came back here (after about a week over *there*) to check things out, attempt to digg up your comment, and still got a "We were unable to complete the request, please refresh the page and try again." Sigh.
momsshizzleSep 10, 2010
Mission Accomplished!
fucking_asscunSep 10, 2010
THAT'S A GREAT F**KING QUESTION C**K SUCKING MOTHERF**KING ASS****
hastynamechoiceSep 10, 2010
That's some very poor syntax, and your use of capitals is frowned upon. Also, to 'f**k' implies an active penetration, and an 'ass****', being recessed and basically a hole of dubious functional purpose, would be precluded from doing so. Had you thought your comment through properly?

tmajibonSep 10, 2010
yeah, I'm getting tired of all this spam complaining about the layout and features of a free site
anillopSep 10, 2010
By lowering the number of users on the site they will make it far less attractive to spamers. But in order to get more spam they made it even easier by allowing then spamers to just have their RSS feeds posted. So now the spamers don't even need to spam the site because the site spams itself. It is really a great technological innovation in the field of spaming.
drewbotoSep 10, 2010

Digg needs to close the door for spammers. End v4!

what digg doing for spammers?
nickedynickSep 9, 2010
They're letting you continue commenting on articles, apparently.
unfriendlyfireSep 9, 2010
And again markfedin, the paid posted got this to the FP in record time. 88 diggs in 34 minutes. Did any one here who posted a comment digg this? Did any one who "Dugg" it post a comment?
rvignesh9008Sep 9, 2010
Damn, I think he is a hacker.. That's not at all possible to my knowledge.. the total number of diggs he has is abt 16.. That stinks :(
stolemybikeSep 9, 2010
Uh, what the f**k? This article is awful and yet somehow is rapidly receiving a huge number of diggs, when this site is essentially dead right now and the submitter has 16 followers? Something extremely fishy is going on here.
Reported.
unfriendlyfireSep 9, 2010
I also reported and sent feedback to digg. Every story he has posted has gotten 100's of diggs in one or two hours with less than 10 and mostly 0 comments.
unfriendlyfireSep 9, 2010
Also he is from San Fran. Hmmmm Who else on digg is from San Fran, let's see, oh yeah Kevin is from San Fran.

Now I rarely digg articles even when/if I've posted in them. That's how I'm still protesting this. Like on the last diggnation the stories hadn't even made it to a thousand diggs yet.
socialhypeSep 9, 2010
next there will be an article on facebook's complete turnaround leaving all its users baffled and angered. like digg.
unfriendlyfireSep 9, 2010
Now 101 in 37 minutes

Sry, I hit the wrong reply button.
joychan21Sep 9, 2010
Wow, is it strange to anyone else to hear some positive news about facebook? Good for them. Yes, get spam off digg!!
markus6986Sep 9, 2010
Not surprisingly, most of the comments here are about spam on Digg...
celino_cSep 9, 2010
Great timing. Digg's doors are open for them now
RaoPhoenixSep 9, 2010
How can you even see the new stories that people have submitted on Digg now? All I can see is the popular ones in each section? Is it really that broken now that all you see are stories that have had enough Diggs to be popular? If so then I can see why people are saying the place has died and it's over. There's no hope of seeing newly submitted stories for ourselves?
hipmanSep 9, 2010
Well the upcoming stories have virtually no comments or diggs, so......
RaoPhoenixSep 9, 2010
I can't even see upcoming here.
hipmanSep 9, 2010
That's weird.
RaoPhoenixSep 9, 2010
Maybe this is one of the main problems? If there's loads of others like me who can't even see the upcoming section or new stories that have been added, it explains a lot about why the place is so broken.
RaoPhoenixSep 9, 2010
Just messaged support and got this :
> We're re-rolling out the Upcoming section, but not all users have access
> yet. If you do not, you'll get access soon!
Closed AccountSep 10, 2010
even when it was working for me over 50% of the "stories" were links to porn sites.
darkshroudSep 10, 2010
I don't have upcoming either, and I did use that on the digg v3 as well.
Closed AccountSep 10, 2010
At least upcoming had a possibility that someone read them.
This is just scamming the system by markfedin
magnesSep 10, 2010
No. There is RSS autosubmitting now. Upcoming is crap because of it.
cyberdroppingSep 9, 2010
Digg needs to sell some oxen and get the bury button back....
enantiodromiaSep 9, 2010
What does a Bury button accomplish?
Closed AccountSep 10, 2010
It is practically the entire point of DIGG, people can either DIGG something or bury it. now they can't and the only stories getting through are SPAM
cawpinSep 10, 2010
Really? So you can't click the little X next to a story and not see it anymore? Oh, right, you CAN but you just choose to pretend you can't so you have something to complain about.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
drleephdSep 10, 2010
you can click the x to 'hide' a story, but it doesn't vote the story off Digg. The problem with this is that crap articles and auto-submitted stuff inevitably makes the front page which otherwise never would have.
Digg was created as a social news site, projecting the most liked articles and links onto the front page. If we're not doing that anymore, we might as well stop calling it a social news site, since the front page doesn't reflect user's preferences, just "highly clickable" sites with farmed content and ad partners.
darkshroudSep 10, 2010
I'd settle for a report user button.
pepinSep 10, 2010
If you ever looked at the "give a reason" drop down for burying on the old digg, it seemed rather obvious that you weren't supposed to simply bury everything you didn't want to digg. The options it gave you were things like duplicate, offensive, etc. Yes, one of them was "OK this is lame," but I was always under the impression that burying was more for reporting a duplicate/tos violation. Burying also made it too easy for bury brigades to prevent stories from getting front paged. It's not like burying lowered the digg count, so the two are not opposites.
kernel16Sep 9, 2010
And Digg opened a window.
socialstacySep 9, 2010
Facebook doesn't even allow some business pages to post links anymore...their system is flawed and needs to be fixed pronto.
nickedynickSep 9, 2010
Holy s**t, could you anti-v4 lot get any lower? I mean seriously, it's not even a clever link!
joker1972Sep 9, 2010
I am with you.I am sick of this s**t. If you don't like Digg then go somewhere.

Digg needs to close the door for spammers. ........
Closed AccountSep 10, 2010
I am tired of the front page being full of RSS Feed Auto Submits and Spammers. The front page is boring, and I can't take it any more.
I don't have a political motivation, or ulterior motive, other than removing the spam.

"Digg
Digg is a user driven social content website. Everything on Digg is user-submitted. After you submit content, other people read your submission and “Digg” what they like best. If your story receives enough Diggs, it’s promoted to the front page for other visitors to see."
