Who watches the watchmen?

I love anonymous, merely for the fact that they are challenging the status quo and making a bunch of smug assh**es think twice about their shady behavior. The only reason the FBI is pursuing them is because they are acting in behalf of their corporate overlords. Anon has my support anyway.

Even if they weren't...the FBI would still say they did...just so they could say, "See?..We need to do something about it."
Soon Anonymous will be considered a terrorist group and the reason the Feds will decide just like the borders are policed...the net has to be too.

Very plausible scenario.

One of the jobs I held was inbound tech support. The FIRST THING they told us is to treat the phone as if there was always a third party listening in. Don't say anything over the phone you wouldn't want said in public. For years the American TLAs (Three Letter Agencies) and others were listening in on the rest of us. Now the technology allows non-TLA groups to do the same thing. If the TLAs are upset then it's their own fault for creating the environment which allows/necessitates it to be done. The TLAs are playing it down but it should scare them half to death because groups like Anonymous are only going to get better at this and eventually stay one step ahead of the TLAs.

Great post. If you know someone is listening, you will talk accordingly. Let us hope at least one of the FBI guys knew this and said what they wanted Anonymous to hear.
The Brits should have known better. They showed they understood the rules extremely well in WWII. They used their intercepts of Nazi communication selectively because they did not want the Germans to know they had broken the enigma, and they feed the enemy the misinformation that matched the Nazi’s expectation – so they believed it.
Maybe the Brits are playing Anonymous as their fathers did the Germans.

If I were president, I'd haul the FBI director, the guy mentioned in the story who setup the call, and the FBI IG in to the OO, and ream the first two before firing the second guy and putting the first guy on notice. WTF kind of show are they running over there?
The FBI has gone so downhill since the days of G. Gordon Liddy. What the hell are they doing holding these calls on an unsecure line, much less passing around password and access via email?
Did they use MyFreeConference, too?
Whose running the show over there? WTF. Really, WTF.
eninen525Feb 4, 2012
maybe its part of the president's call for more transparent government lol
yammibowlaFeb 4, 2012
well the constant mantra to "reduce the size of the Federal Government" and oursource everything to private enterprise had them using MyFreeConference due to lack of funds.

That would be funny if the budget for the FBI or other agencies like that ever, ever went down, which is something only the left supports.
flarn2006Feb 5, 2012
Personally I think anything the FBI discusses about a certain person that person should have a right to know, unless it would truly pose a threat to national security.
