Digg that comment if you think the solution in the video is better than what we have now.
nascenttNov 5, 2010
I guess I'm being an idiot, but what's the difference? It looks the same to me.
amyvernonNov 5, 2010
Yes, please.
cdurukNov 5, 2010
Jamie...I'm unto you..

I really like that you guys are asking for users opinions.
Even though I do want friends' dugg changed, I don't really favor the ascetics of the submitted design.
badqatNov 5, 2010
I like it.

I like it too. Much neater. I say we push it live asap. Also are there any plans to set the Frontpage as the default page, not 'my news' for new users ? (ofcourse with the option to change remaining) . It is one of the reasons activity is very low on many Frontpage submissions now because newbies simply aren't aware of them. They just stare at their 'my news' feed which has little activity & say 'crap this is boring' and bounce. We need to capture them on their first signup with the most interesting articles voted by the community with a lot of buzz on it. That will entice them to join the engagement.

I second the motion.
wjappeNov 5, 2010
Sounds like a plan
absolutelytrueNov 5, 2010
I like it. Looks like a good solution. Thank you for working to make Digg more user-friendly.
ltgenpandaNov 5, 2010
Even before I watch it, thanks for getting feedback even before something is done!
hackiewackieNov 5, 2010
Digg Axle!! at the end .. Ruined it!
Sticking to the topic, Looks neat!
sabazouNov 5, 2010Submitter
That was just added as a joke
rufiohoNov 5, 2010
Like the solution, much cleaner. Hope it gets enough votes.
lbuchaNov 5, 2010
so sick of the mega list of friends who've dugg... love this solution
cdurukNov 6, 2010
We made a small change to that mega list, now it collapses. But you know..improving things are fun.

Approved!

I like it.

Maybe I don't get it but I don't see what it adds other than a fire graphic. If a story has a bunch of comments we can see that.
I'm all for innovation though. Keep it up
badqatNov 5, 2010
It replaces the long line of your mutuals who've dugg/commented on a story that is currently displayed in a vertical fashion.
redstringNov 5, 2010
Much better. Do want.
bettverbotenNov 5, 2010
The friend thing is horrific now.... running down the page in huge bold lettering is very annoying, condensing it is a good idea. The pop up comment box is ok on a regular computer, but on an iPad it pops up the key board along with the comment box every time you digg a submission. So that means you have to close the keyboard every time you want to digg a new submission or do anything.
sabazouNov 5, 2010Submitter
Thanks for the tip re: iPad or iPhone digging. We'll work on a fix for that
janinewallaceNov 5, 2010
great idea
danbarkerNov 5, 2010
Can we see user pictures - with flames on top of them. (So it looks like they are on fire basicly).
illuuuNov 5, 2010
Maybe only show the number of diggs/comments from friends and when you click on it, the list of friends and comments as we see it now rolls down?
sabazouNov 5, 2010Submitter
I actually like being able to see comments all the time, to me they are more important than diggs. We are probably going to implement your idea regarding showing who dugg something (show the count, then after clicking expand the list out)
pyroclastic_vikingNov 5, 2010
I like the fire option, very clean! Not sure if fire is the way to go though, maybe shovels fits the theme of digg more? On the other hand the commenting option from the front page is going to turn the comments page into duplicate comment junkyard IMOComment is buried, click here to see the rest.
mediatrustNov 5, 2010
whos got the matches for the fire
sabazouNov 5, 2010Submitter
Update: Going to kill the flames & orange color, maybe we'll use a shovel or digg guy instead? Thanks for the feedback guys, we are glad to see this experiment is being well received.
emecksNov 5, 2010
It will be a big improvement!
And well done for asking before doing, that is very reassuring indeed :)
On a tangent… how tricky would it be to make it so that toggling comment diggs would work for all comments?
Just now you need to click on each comment's diggs to see how comments are being received - it'd be so much nicer if (like the old digg) one click would make all of them + / -
sabazouNov 6, 2010Submitter
It actually would not be tricky at all
emecksNov 6, 2010
Oh coool! It's not really a priority, but it would give much more insight into reaction to stories and the comments around the stories too.
Thanks for replying, I wasn't expecting that :)
