It's garbage. The navigation is a lot worse, who knows where the subcategories are, you can't follow your friends as easily, commenting looks stupid now and it's harder to find your friends' comments, etc. Even if they fix the bugs, it's still worse than it was before.

Following friends isn't all that it's cracked up to be anyway. I want to find things on my own. If I feel the need to share anything, I'd rather be sharing in a real, live, face-to-face conversation instead of TwitterBook-ing the garbage.
Also, the "My" news default page needs to die. Digg isn't humpin the "social news" leg anymore.....they are balls-deep raping the bullet point now.

I also want to see things that those who are not in my group digg/submit its a very insular system that as a added feature would be nice to run the whole site like this is bulls**t.
I see it only clicking with the twitter crowd and even then I bet half are not going to like it.

My biggest contention is the list of my comments, and the Friend's Activity. I use that almost exclusively, (I only have a dozen) as they are knee-deep in the science and religion articles, and are great reading.
Now I can't find s**t. I will not get used to this new design because they took EVERYTHING I used away.

Subcategories would be nice, and I'm with you on the whole following friends thing. I have all of 8 friends on digg, not a lot of following necessary here....It's terrible. I can't see how many diggs/buries I have unless I go back to the page, and even then it's a trip and a half to find it again. It's just a mess.

Edit: only 90 seconds of editable comments? :( They increase it from 2 -> 5 minutes a long time ago ...

I had a lot of problems when it was in "Alpha" mode, never had to report until I was there. I was so fed up with the "NEW" digg that I reverted back to the regular site. Now it seems I will never be able to revert :(

Same thing happened to me. They should give people the option to switch back to the old site until they get the bugs ironed out and they add back some of the missing features from the old site. Oh and since my bug report didn't go through, the top in 24 hours under my news does not seem to be working.

I tried to write them to throw my support behind the opposition to new digg. it would have been my only message to digg support ever; i was accused of having sent over 50 such messages in one hour. it's buggy and many of the features that drew users into digg (they got rid of the diggman's shovel seriously wtf was that for, on like the only page he appears, the contact us page) are gone and have been replaced by this forced social-networking aspect. it reminds me of when parents force their kids to invite the unpopular kid to an outing, it's just not going to work and is going to make the experience crappier for everyone involved.

She has decent t**s, but when you ask her what her name is, she can't remember. Then you ask her if she feels OK (because she looks pale and zombesque.) She doesn't reply, and instead pulls out a stick of Old Spice and tries to force feed your mouth hole with it. But you didn't want old spice, you just wanted to search Digg for a technical article that you read awhile back...Now she has a dick.

I don't care about finding friends and all their crap. What irritates me is that it's harder to see new content and figure out what just made it to the frontpage (if such a thing still exists). Plus, comment threads are difficult to figure out. There's just A LOT of little tiny things that annoy the hell out of me.

It's about 10 times more confusing than it needs to be. It's so much more cumbersome than it used to be. Honestly, wish the old look was back.

Quite telling is the fact that i would never have been able to see that story without you linking to it, unless it became popular or someone i randomly follow saw it on someone else's random my news page.
This makes the situation with power users etc a lot worse. Now submissions are just popularity contests, with no other way of finding them.

Want to know the worst part about how this new "follow" feature is a major part of the new Digg? I don't follow anyone. I want no part of it. I'm just here for the comments. And so far the commenting section is completely flaky, the profile pages are broken when it comes to clicking on your comment to follow it back to an active thread, the profile page doesn't even bother showing your digg count anymore which I can only assume means that diggs/buries are not considered important, and worst of all I no longer have the "People who dugg this also dugg" section that I found most of my new upcoming articles in. If they don't turn Digg back into Digg again and not some freaky result of Twitter and Facebook having a sloppy drunken one night stand without Facebook having the common courtesy of pulling out, they may see an exodus...

That is the very core mechanics that makes this site what it is and now it is not only obscured but completely inaccessible. THIS MAKE NO SENSE AT ALL. Its almost like a competitor redesigned the site just to bring digg down and marginalize their enormous success through a bunch of nonsensical bells and whistles that mitigates the core functions that made the site popular to begin with!

Digg once had a near perfect implementation of an ingenious idea that felt transparent and kind of "by the people for the people". Then they added the social aspect and a flurry of gaming and poweruser abuse took and is still taking place. Now as a large company who only cares about revenue, the content, quality and transparency has suffered massively. Digg used to have quality content, where you could aggregate accurate and interesting news that no biased organizations cared to report on. Now you have primarily break.com videos, years old 4chan images, and inaccurate news that despite how many buries it received, never leaves the front page. While I'll still visit digg,-reddit, anandtech, slashdot and aljazeera are now my primary sources for actual NEWS and not PPC ad revenue blogspam.

I agree; Couldn't of said it better. I've been a long time lurker on digg, and absolutely loved the old set up. Everything was easily accessible (from checking upcoming news to narrowing down a specific topic of news you'd like to see). Though previously content with just wandering digg, i felt i had to get my point across to 'kevin and co.' and say that this change to a 'more socially' directed news site seems to be missing the mark of what most people have come to love digg for.
Can we at least get some old features back, like the topic categories?
No offense Digg, i love you, i really do, but if i wanted to follow users to get a social news feed, I'd get a twitter account.

We’ve replaced the “bury” action with a “hide” action which completely removes that story from your view while logged in to Digg. To hide a story, mouse over the story and then click the “x” that appears in the upper right corner of that item.

So one can only 'hide' a story only in the area where you first encounter it.
How can you know if you want to 'hide' a story before you've read it.?
so you have to open it, read it, then close it and return to the 'upcoming' or 'my news' or 'latest' list view to hide it...?

While you're at it, at least give us the ability to change font colors and style. You took the whole "change" thing a bit too far.

It is broke. Plain and simple. It won't load stories, it wont save diggs, it wont save comments. Who knows what the hell happened to my apostrophes?
Let me know when it if fixed because I doubt that this comment will even save and I don't need this level of frustration with my work distractions.
edit: It saved but when recording my digg it went from 46 to 44, it says it is dugg then I get the red error saving this digg, please try again. Wonderful.

Yeah, if you move to noSQL, at least make sure your servers are synchronized quickly. The digg numbers are out of whack, some proxies in the cluster are literally disconnected from the login (lots of "unauthorized" errors), etc.

Even worse, the new system forces comments to be collapsed at -5 diggs. I want to browse with ALL comments expanded, regardless of diggs.
In political discussion threads, it's not uncommon for valid comments to get dugg way the hell down simply because of taking a particular stance. Now, on an article with hundreds of comments, you're gonna have to spend a lot of time expanding comments to read. I just don't have the time for that.

Why not? A lot of the things I liked about Digg have gone now. Reddit's UI may be a lot worse, and there are far more political stories than I could care for, but it's much more like the old Digg (which there was nothing wrong with) than the new Digg.

B) Clicked "Arrow up" and Oops, got an error. Bad.

D) Clicked link to report THAT. Oops, not found. BAD
1) Can't check upcoming stories
2) Can't review my comments without clicking on each article individually.
3) Constant errors.
4) Constant requests to "log in" when I am already logged in.
5) Give it a 50/50 shot AT BEST that this comment will even post.....
5A) It didn't until 2nd try. "unable to complete request please refresh" REALLY BAD
So far, this really sucks and I DO NOT like it.
I've been to Reddit once a year or so ago. Stayed with Digg because it was superior. I am revisiting that conclusion.

It was, I helped to test it. It had no problems then (it was still crap, but that's beside the point). I expect most of the problems are down to scaling the site from a small group of Alpha testing users to the full site's userbase.

I like it... Except for all the errors. Also can't you guys add a Spell Check to the comments and Submission? Also put "Submitted" back under our profiles?Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
