but that would be like blocking all of my favorite porn sites.

Oh and another thing, one of your talking points about a site called flashsucks.com, yah that site doesn't exist. They're is a site called flashsucks.org. But that has to be one of the most god awful looking sites I've ever seen. If you were making a point that flash sites are crappy and gimmicky, and then post a site that looks like s**t for your defense, well...I guess it just makes your point even more pointless.

What is your point, to just tell us to block flash?
This guy should know a few things about flash before he starts writing a article thats half a quote by Jobs.
The quote that we can have everything flash does with html5 is stupid and ignorant. Congrats, you have video. That's it.
Yah you hate banners and advertisement that use flash that eats CPU and what not but let me let you in on a secret. Without flash the internet would not be as profitable and wouldn't be the overlord that it is today. We need advertisements. Flash is the best way to show an interactive advertisement and get interest of viewers. Or you can just have sites that play movies when you get on them if you really want that. but you don't.
But hey I guess I do flash for a living so I might be bias...

"The quote that we can have everything flash does with html5 is stupid and ignorant. Congrats, you have video. That's it."
No it really isn't. Nearly everything that Flash can do (not everything but most), HTML5 can do as well. Not as easily with all of Adobe's tools, but yes nearly everything. Adobe themselves now makes conversion tools so if you can't figure out how to do it natively, you can do it first with Flash and them convert it to HTML5.
However you are correct that the internet would not be what it is today without Flash and for that (heck just to get rid of RealPlayer alone should get them in the Hall of Internet Fame) I'm grateful. Like other types of web standards over the years however, it's time has come to go away for something that has the potential to be better.

Might be BIASED. :)
HTML5 can't do everything right now, but it can definitely do more than video. We need ads, yes, but we don't need them in a battery-sucking plugin that crashes your browser and creates security holes. You can do those without using Flash.

Flash is the Bomb ! your article sucks a million times , and you wish you could do what Flash designers do....
You can even convert Flash to HTML5 !!! And still have all the Ads and banners that you want but in HTML5 !!!
I have a Sony Android Play and Flash on the device and it doesn't drain my battery and its super fast... Apple is now behind with the no Flash support for the iOS device seem's like they lost the war hehe.

Soooo, you're saying that because Apple won't use Flash in iOS that they are doomed? You think that Flash will be around forever? Most major webvid sites already have either switched to html5 or allow for both. Most Flash games can't work with smartphones or tablets because most (not all, but most) require a keyboard or mouse to operate. So that leaves ads. Will you defend Flash ads too? There are a certain number of sites (not a significant number) that use a lot of Flash. For menus or to have little loops and swirls of animations for a menu and so on. Looks nice but doesn't exactly fall under the "have to have" category. With more and more mobile devices coming out (many of which don't have Flash built-in but added later if the owner wants it), these sites will most likely eliminate Flash as well.
The iPad (according to current estimates) has something like 80-95% of all browsing for that form factor. None of them do Flash. The iPhone represents a large number (not nearly as large as the iPad) of mobile surfings as well. None of these do Flash. So site owners can buck the trend and keep Flash, hoping that either Apple will change their minds (it could happen) or that alternative devices that do use Flash will become the majority. However chances are the iPad will keep its dominance of the tablet market for at least another 2 years. That's a long time for internet standards. Most likely once Android tablets are the majority of the market (and that will happen sooner or later on price alone) Flash won't be relevant for them either.
Also how exactly do you know Flash isn't draining your device? If you're using it all the time you have no frame of reference. Mobile Flash IS a battery hog. On a computer this means very little but on mobile devices it can and has been verified to drain batteries faster.
Lastly, if Adobe was "winning" the war with html5 and Flash, why are they suddenly coming out with conversion tools to change Flash content over to html5? Don't bother to strain yourself, it's so they can squeeze every last drop of cash they can out of Flash before it becomes irrelevant.

Adobe and their products PDF Reader and Flash have been bloated, slow and buggy for more than a decade.

Flashblock addon for Firefox is great. I choose the flash I want to see.

Why so much hate for Flash? Is good.
mannipplesJun 30, 2011
FlashBlock add-on for firefox is so nice to stop all those autorun noise maker videos. Along with flash ad's that are just a waste of bandwidth.

Awesome, pretty much what I've been saying for a long time.
