Darrrrleeeeeene. Your story sucks! The story is connected to the headline in only the most exquisitely tenuous way. There was no confusion, there were no police, there was no raid on a suspected grow-op turned bitcoin mining server farm.
Only an insinuation, propped up by weak IRC rag-chew, that the potential for such misunderstandings may exist.
Even the linked NetworkWorld story isn't directly related, as sold to us in the text.
You, miss, are in fact a blogger. Great use of the question mark.
Perhaps something like this is only a matter of time. Hey, I'll buy that. I'll buy ten! Why don't you write a story about it when it _actually happens_. Durrr.

Seriously, this reads like a thinly-veiled promotion for BitCoin. I'm surprised the author doesn't have their BC ID asking for donations at the bottom.

Bitcoins are the libertarian currency. Poor people are not allowed to have any.

I don't quite get it. So how is virtually created money going to be used to buy stuff?
benjie25May 23, 2011
Bitcoins can be exchanged for actual Dollars or Euros. Just like "real" money, they only have value because people place a value on them. No different.
They use to be 1 bitcoin = $1, but only a few months later, 1 bitcoin exchanges for $8. If you bought $100 of bitcoins a year ago, you could've exchanged for a pretty penny.

Hell, for the first couple months, you could do better than 10 BTC per USD.
