I have to agree, things have been looking up as of late
conservative_zombieFeb 20, 2011
It does suck less
zjbirdFeb 20, 2011
I have to agree, it is a little late for this.
po43292Feb 21, 2011
That's not agreeing, tard.
zjbirdFeb 21, 2011
Right. I'm the tard. Enjoy digg :D
biglouFeb 21, 2011
Makes... no... sense.... !!!!!
immediateactionFeb 21, 2011
I have enjoyed Digg, I do enjoy Digg and it's the willingness of Digg to listen to its users that will allow me to keep enjoying Digg in the future. People like you are more than welcome to leave the site if they so choose.
Or perhaps you like posting insulting comments ABOUT a "s**tty" site on the very same "s**tty" site you claim to hate.
zjbirdFeb 22, 2011
I don't mind that I get buried, but you are ignorant if you think digg cares about anything but money. The only reason they finally listened is that they lost a huge amount of users. I was digging before you, and you will be digging after I leave. I'll get my news on time, you'll get it a day or two late. Have a good one.

m0busFeb 27, 2011
A dude walks into a bar, the bar is completely autonomous.
The man sits down at the bar and asks for a double whiskey. The robot bartender pours a precise double and slides it over to him, and proceeds to ask, "what website do you frequent?"
The man, interested, replies, "Slashdot"
The robot bartender responds quickly with intelligent conversation about particle physics and programming idiosyncrasies.
After the man finishes the drink, he leaves and immediately turns around, too entertained by the level of conversation he had with the robot.
He sits down again and orders a rum and coke, and when the robot asks the same preliminary question again, he responds, "Reddit".
He and the robot converse on politics and conspiracy theories, talking back and forth about the dynasty of power and how it's always possessed by the top 2%.
Again, the man leaves and returns, too compelled to leave this matter at rest.
He orders a Budweiser, and tells the robot that he frequents the site, "Digg".
The robot looks at its patron with a blankest stare a robot can perform and says, "Want another drink?"
luke255Mar 7, 2011
I don't know what that was a response to, has Digg broken replies and just posting them as normal comments?! As you may or may not be able to see i've posted a few comments on this submission that are critical of Digg and anyone who still uses it. This is the first time I have visited the site since a few days after v4. 88 diggs = front page? Wow. Well at least it's still good quality stuff- no wait cancel that. It's all random crap.
This site is doomed. You do not recover from such an epic fail. Digg has not only alienated it's entire user base, but every person who has heard the story of the website that ploughed on regardless of the pleas of it's own community.
ajajadudeFeb 21, 2011
If only there wasn't a restriction on the number of people I can digg up or down, I'd be a happy camper.
ddotccdpuFeb 21, 2011
Or the number of times...
I swear some of the comments I just want to keep clicking the dig down button...
kitsuaFeb 21, 2011
Yeah, credit where's it's due. There is at least hope.
aleronFeb 21, 2011
I agree. I was one of those ex-diggers-turned-Redditors but I do like to drop in once in a while. It's great to see staff listening to its userbase.
alanocuFeb 20, 2011
I want to see Digg back on top again. I love this site. It's just not the same as it was when I joined five years ago. I miss those days, but they are doing a good job listening to us. When v4 rolled out last Summer, I honestly thought it was doomed. Keep up the good work, Digg. You're gonna be just fine.
lethainFeb 20, 2011Staff
Thanks! We're working hard to maintain our recent pace of features and improvements. (I wish we had filmed the day of the V4 launch. It was a truly remarkable day.) Things are going to keep getting better from here. (Not to be confused with the Christina Aguilera single, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAW55eLzHfo , which you could argue is not an example of things getting better.)
0bamaclintobushFeb 20, 2011
I couldn't agree more... about Digg or Aguilera. One is going up, one is going down.
immediateactionFeb 20, 2011
Yeah. She goes down a lot if you nawmeen.
gvoakesFeb 20, 2011
That's actually what he meant
caramba421Feb 21, 2011
Yeah, I hear she likes to engage in liasons of oral sex, if you catch my drift.
In all fairness, though, she is a very talented singer. It's a shame that she resticts her repotoire to cookie-cutter pop BS.
goweigusFeb 20, 2011
remarkable/horrific
po43292Feb 21, 2011
wtf was that video :/
immediateactionFeb 21, 2011
I think the staff activity and interaction with users on this site is great. In fact I think it's something that helps define Digg and separates it from other social news sites on the web. Don't go changing in this regard and thanks for listening to us!
jo9100Feb 21, 2011

beshirthappyFeb 20, 2011
I could not agree more regarding old/new users. IMHO, don't worry about those that left (C'est la vie) but concentrate on those that stood by them and bringing in new users. I never gave up on Digg - have and always will be a loyal user.
Thank you Digg for not just listening, but.... hearing, us.
circlefusionFeb 20, 2011
When so much of internet commentary is filled with negativity and cynicism, I expect people to keep betting against Digg's resurgence. This is part of the reason why I really hope for Digg to rebuild and get back to it's previous statistics, and even surpass them. That would be good medicine for the intarnetz,
steaminxFeb 20, 2011
Good for Digg!
louiebaurFeb 20, 2011

You're right, it is a little spammy. Also your link is broken. Also your submission history is somewhat biased to the same site, i'm sure it's not yours or anything like that... Happy to help !!!
neverworldtwoFeb 20, 2011
I'm sorry it's spammy Ted, I'm just trying to get the word out about a murder and a missing couple who he has captive. I don't blame you for negativing it but I'm just feeling a little desperate because he's already killed one person and is on the run. Sorry :( I truly mean that.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

I'm still having a problem loading more comments. In my profile it usually repeats a bunch of the same comments and never loads anything over a day old. In lots of articles the load more button doesn't even show up. Overall things are pulling together though. Looks great! Muchas gracias!
lethainFeb 20, 2011Staff
Not always showing the "Load More" comments button was our first attempt to resolve the "show load more too frequently" issue. We'll take a look and see if we're now erring in the other direction (not showing it enough).
caramba421Feb 21, 2011
What about comment searching coming back. Is that in the pipeline?
lethainFeb 21, 2011Staff
I haven't actually heard people ask for this before now, but it's definitely a good idea. Let me put it into our feature backlog and see what we can do.
richidFeb 20, 2011Staff
Just reproduced the issue with duplicate comments loading on profile pages and I'm working on a fix as we speak. With any luck it will be pushed out early this week.
Thanks for the report!

Just thought I'd mention: I've been having a lot of trouble logging in, but the Digg techs were very helpful and, well, here I am, so the advice they gave me (using another browser) worked ... so, definitely on the positive side of Digg today ... :)

I was surprised when the CEO, Matt, came and sat in for a Digg dialogue. I was also genuinely impressed by what he had to say about how he felt about Digg. That kind of honest excitement from the person who is heading a site should bode well for future.
chrisvazquez1Feb 21, 2011
Is Digg Dialogue any good? I personally love Diggnation but I haven't given the Dialogue any look. What's it about? Long live Rev3! Bring back Foodmob. =(
mrcizzoFeb 20, 2011
Honestly, I love digg because of its looks. Its competitor's sites (alien logo thing) just has an awful looking site and even though it may have good content, the overall appearance of it makes me cringe.
firefox15Feb 21, 2011
Like any design (good or bad), you get used to it the longer you use it. I'd say it took me a good month to get used to it. Something they don't publicize much: The site actually looks a lot better once you create an account and can customize the look of the homepage with thumbnails, sub-reddits, etc.
mrcizzoFeb 21, 2011
FYI, Digg likes to keep their development updates which most of can be found on their blog.
scigrex14Feb 20, 2011
I have been here almost from the beginning and am excited by the future of Digg. Digg as a website may have stumbled but they are doing a lot to improve and find the balance they once had.
adeelarshad82Feb 20, 2011
Yea I don't think those numbers represent traffic. I've been comparing those against what i'm seeing in the analytics tool and they don't seem to match up. I think JD got this right, they're views on digg plus clicks.
canyoucountFeb 20, 2011
A paradigm shift is what every site needs to monetize its eyeball audience mumble mumble..
altanarFeb 20, 2011
Digg might as well remove the "My News" section now. The only thing I had in it was from websites I subscribed to. Now that RSS feeds are gone, I see a new submission in there once every couple of days. I see no point to randomly following people on here that I don't know. That's not going to get me any better results than just clicking on "Top News".
netantFeb 21, 2011
I disagree.
"My News" seems to be "equivalent" to what "New Submissions" used to be. Basically, a way to get an unfiltered head start on submitted stories. The reason why YOU do not seem to get new stuff is probably that you do not follow many people who submit stories. No pool of users submitting stories = nothing new.
For the people who DO have a pool of users who submit stories, its a way to see stuff that does not make it to the front page AND its a way you can help stories make it to the front page (by digging the ones you like. Follow people with similar perspective, you are more likely to learn they've submitted a page.).
But for the sake of full disclosure, I only infrequently scan the "My News" section anyway. Partly lazy, partly satisfied with the time wasted on Digg reading/responding to "Top News".

I still go to Digg every day, at least once a day. I still find stuff here I'm not finding elsewhere. I could look on Reddit but it takes too long and Reddit still makes my eyes bleed.
I'm hoping you guys turn it around as and ex-Digg staffer. That's funny, I'm still listed as Staff. Thanks, guys!
lethainFeb 20, 2011Staff
Cleaned up that minor data inconsistency... you're no longer marked as staff, but don't take it too hard. :-)
grendelboogieFeb 20, 2011

bensladeFeb 20, 2011
Digg takes feeback? How come there's not a area to "digg" other users feedback instead of just dumping my feedback into a blackhole like feedback web page.
kevaldesaiFeb 21, 2011
this is a great idea and there are 2 potential ways to do that today. (1) you could submit your feedback as a story item (for e.g. by writing a blog post and submitting the URL) and others can digg your feedback and/or (2) you could submit feedback in the comment (similar to what you did here) and other users can digg the comment. separately, every feedback submitted by users is read and we also collect all that data and analyze it for user satisfaction (or lack thereof) with the site. I can assure you, your feedback is not going into a black hole. keep it coming ...
raysinxFeb 20, 2011
Been here since the beginning and I will never leave
PhilbertRupkinsFeb 20, 2011
The new site is nice. Kudos. I know this is a never ending process and dig will fix the issues that remain and continue to get better.
Now....lets see what else made the front page on Digg! :-)
leetxjdFeb 20, 2011
I've been a member for almost 6 years. Digg was a Tech only site and I found many stories I would have never come across but for Digg.
The problems started when political stories were added. That is when the bury brigades started. I am tired of the lib-hate and con-hate - both sides are AWFUL and disruptive.
Digg needs a better way to allow any user to filter the topics completely.
netantFeb 21, 2011
Why bother reverting Digg to a Tech only site when you have Slashdot and Ars Technica? (I prefer H online.) My point is that there are plenty of good sites for tech. Digg would die a quick death if it only covered Tech.
IHADDIGGONVINYLFeb 20, 2011
I hope so, I checked it out the other day and it seems things are changing for the better..more comments, better articles..hope it keeps up.
bs0lFeb 20, 2011
One thing I'm interested in is the percentage of "Hot Stories" as chosen by the Digg Staff that get promoted to the front page.
gthec9909Feb 20, 2011
i love this website. for it to take a back seat to something like reddit or another clone would devistate me.
firefox15Feb 21, 2011
I hope this doesn't sound trolly, but I think it already has. The last stats I saw showed Reddit ahead of Digg by a wide margin. You can usually see this just by looking at the highest voted stories on each website. It isn't even close. Digg hardly cracks the 1000 barrier anymore, and Reddit frequently gets over 3000. Hope Digg can come back.
gthec9909Feb 21, 2011
also, reddit offends me. theres an entire section on "atheism". Im a strong protestant, and to see crap like that with a picture of "a flying spaghetti monster" is disgusting.
im not sure if your an athiest or not, but i thought id bring this up.
firefox15Feb 22, 2011
While I understand your concern, Reddit has sections (or sub-reddits) for practically everything. There is even one for Christianity. Part of the draw of Reddit is being able to pick and choose exactly what sub-reddits appear on your homepage. While both Digg and Reddit no doubt have a strong liberal basis, I find it's easier to get a balanced view on Reddit since you can "manufacture" the balance.
As to your question, I am a Christian and a conservative, so I understand where you are coming from. I honestly believe you can get more balance on Reddit if you filter it to your likings.
http://www.reddit.com/r/christianity
gthec9909Feb 22, 2011
i cant even find the religion/christian section, but the first thing i always see when i go to that website is the word "athiesm" in dark grey, size 8 letters.

piratearggghhhFeb 20, 2011
I still like digg's clean interface vs. other sites, haven't seen spam in a while, and it seems like a lot of the trolls have moved on so it's definitely headed in the right direction. Despite the problems with v.4, it's good to see digg constantly evolving and trying new things.
aahpandasrunFeb 20, 2011
Digg is a lot better now than after the version 4 launch. However, stories that make it to the front page now don't seem as personal as they did back in the version 3 days. However, that might just be my imagination. The user interface right now is fantastic by the way.
anomaly100Feb 20, 2011
Digg is getting much better is some aspects. There are other areas that concern me, but it's headed in the right direction. I know quite a few old digg users that would come back that I see on other sites, but they still have issues with one or two things here.
I remain devoted to digg. It is my second home:-)
lordcrimmehFeb 20, 2011
I really, really hope digg recovers. There was a time when reddit really gave digg a run for its money in terms of content, but that time ended around the time of the Digg v4 launch.
Browse reddit today and you'll find 75% of it is reposts, FFFFUUUU subreddit posts, various 4chan memes, recycled gifs, "TIL" posts, askreddit posts, iama/AMA posts, and even more non-content.
Please, please ditch that hunk of junk, come here, login to your account, and digg stories so we can have a working community that provides a relevant and interesting news stream. That is what Digg is for.
dadof2Feb 21, 2011

dadof2Mar 7, 2011
Actually, digg still sucks, now they just try to package everything in a different way, including you luke255, and my new Reddit friends aren't missing me at all, because I am actually learning to speak instead of just lurk on Reddit and that is what makes a better experience. I used to (when I only trolled digg) think that the web was a television. Now I see it as people actually connecting through common bonds. Thank you Reddit. I know this comment may actually never be seen, but I plan on sharing this on Reddit, so who knows.
luke255Mar 7, 2011
One of us must be high because that made no sense to me.
dadof2Mar 7, 2011
Don't you know? Everyone who totally got sick of digg has switched to a site called Reddit, with an actual community. You should check it out. There are a lot of high people there. But They do not hinder the communication invilved.
dadof2Mar 7, 2011
But they do mostly give a f**k.
