“I think it’s obvious that Digg should be building every single connectivity tool they can as they build out their immediate API. These and other pro-active moves will give Digg time as they
attempt to attract a new generation of diggers,” said content creator Cecil Helton.
Digg should hire this guy.

You're silly.
If I handled recruiting @Digg, I'd be snapping up Mohan. He is one brilliant dude.

I would love to brainstorm ideas with Digg management. The streaming API is fantastic. I've been using Sub Digger Plus and Fan Digger on a daily basis. But I also think there are a lot of simple things that the developers could do to the interface to make Digg more social again.
I really miss the glory days of Digg. I'm an optimist. Digg v4 nearly lost me, but I certainly don't think Digg is done or dead. I love Digg. I want to see those glory days again.

Forget every other issue -- the very first thing that Digg needs to address is stability. Very frequently when I click on a story, I get a page that says "User not found" (double WTF).
I've used Neaveru Digg Comment Statistics for years, and still do, even though it's half broken:
http://www.neaveru.com/digg/
Sometimes it loads, and sometimes it doesn't. I'm also trying to check out the aforementioned Fan Digger Plus, and keep getting a "Digg API Server is Down!" error.
Does anyone still think the Oregon Trail wagon error page is cute? I've seen it so many times, I'm way beyond that. I've really grown to hate it.
We need to send Ballmer over to Digg headquarters to do a Monkey Boy dance for them.
STABILITY! STABILITY! STABILITY!

While we still wait for:
1:The Bury option.
2:The ability to remove followers
3:The ability to block people
4:Digg to be more stable

In fairness, you couldn't remove followers in the old Digg. And not everyone's waiting for Bury to come back, either.

With "The Bob's" in charge of layoffs all hope is lost! The Bob's, "What is it you do here exactly?"

You know what I noticed since Digg v4? There are fewer douchebags here now. That was the main thing that brought me over to Reddit a few months ago (before the new Digg). I was tired of seeing Digg comments get more and more stupid and insult-driven over time, and good comments getting buried. But over the past couple of weeks, I've been lurking on Digg again. That problem seems to have nearly disappeared.
It's not a bad interface here. It certainly looks better than Reddit. If only they could fix the bugs and increase the content options. On Digg, it's really all about the frontpage. On Reddit, there were TONS of things to read within sub-Reddits. You could literally spend hours on Reddit in a given day. On Digg, I'm done reading after about 30 minutes. They don't have anything like sub-Diggs (like sub-Reddits) to increase the granularity of the topics. On Reddit, I could connect with people with shared interests, or people within my city. Digg v5 needs to incorporate more features like that.

I want topics like software back.
Sometimes the technology news section is interesting, but the majority of it is fluff.
now you see something about a electric whatever,
yet another top ten list, and hopefully something on a new release
and rarely any of it actually has any real conversation going on.
they made digg 4 generic except for my news, but I never pay any attention to it because it's rarely actually populated.
Ever since digg 4 the news quality is ultimately gone down, I'm better off just reading cnet and a couple of other sites occasionally, and then maybe leaving a couple comments on digg whenever.
Digg 4 killed most of the visitors, and it has yet to raise back.
anther thing I can complain about,
If I'm not logged in, and I'm just browsing, that massive join digg advertisement shows up.
I should be able to at-least switch around through the top news section, but that advertisement takes up the place where a menu should be.
so then I have to log in just to browse around stories easily, when the chance is that I probably don't intend to leave comments or anything If I'm just browsing anyway.

No.

Will it also be streaming digg comment spam?

streaming API for the steaming PILE
linageeOct 31, 2010
Is there a huge reason to create a new API and not just use something like RSS?
danbarkerOct 31, 2010
You have to say though, the streaming API is pretty cool!

I might need to look at more.
