Agreed. For the last two days I've been looking at digg trying to figure out why it looked so different - then I realized basically the entire news engine was changed... there's no point in Digg any more, I already visit these sites - I don't need one site aggregating.

I'm big on not using adblock on sites that I think are quality and not just whoring themselves out for page submissions (i.e. ad dollars). I just enabled adblock for digg, which I've never done before. Also, I created a reddit account.
Kevin Rose still has time to appeal to the very users who got him where he is. The very thing I liked about digg was that although it was very hard for me to get content on the home page, at least I could. And although the site was for the most part controlled by power users, you at least had *some* sense that users controlled the site. Now? Whoever has the most "followers" wins. Basically digg has become twitter. Wonderful!

I always thought Digg users were mostly a lot of childish wankers, but I didn't realize the true degree of wankitude until Digg changed the UI a bit.
Instead of working through a few usability issues, Digg users have gone wild like a pack of screaming baboons on meth and cannot calm down until they kill Digg. I personally hope you are all permabanned and your IP blocked for a decade, so I can go back to reading stories I like, voting on ones I like, and reading real comments instead of juvenile yabbering such as you offer us.

Seems to me that Digg has 2 options.
1) Apologize and rollback.
2) Pull the trigger and just die.

Sadly, it was better the old way. I'd rather have a few people with the most popular submissions than deal with this crap. If it was about the people, why get rid of the Upcoming section? Why give the power to the news sources? I don't see how trading a few power users being in control for a few news sources being in control is any better. At least the masses still had to digg stuff to get it to the frontpage.

The new way has been an unmitigated disaster. Less content, less diversity, and technically it's been a bad joke. I'm no fan of the power blind diggers, but the new digg has zero chance of being a better solution.

What a traitor. Digg should implement an algorithm that detects multiple IP's being used and which users/IP's are digging which sites so the average non-spamming non-corporate user feels he's getting a site which vows for the integrity of the common user.

The whole "Digg Revolution" is stupid and completely pointless. Yes, the new digg is broken in many ways, and definitely should have been left cooking in the oven a bit longer, with more stress testing. However, I highly doubt that KRose & Co are out to screw all the individual users and focus only on corporations and publishers. If anything, this "Revolt" is causing more issues for the site instead of helping fix them. Flooding comments and stories repeatedly just causes more issues for everyone, esp those who are just trying to enjoy the site for what it is.
I personally feel that once the bugs are ironed out and the "top news" promotion algorithm, life will be a lot better here. I do agree there should be a "Default" toggle between "My News" and "Top News", which is apparently coming. However, once the algorithm works again, and I can go an entire day without seeing a Broken Axle, an Error occured that is X% probably Joe Schmo's Fault, or any other error messages, I will be quite content with the site.
Finally, on a personal note, I seriously cannot WAIT until the comments for a given story go back to being comments ABOUT that story. If I wanted to see people ranting about how Digg v4 sucks, I would go look at the comments for any of the 9 billion submitted stories about it.

Although I haven't resorted to going to Reddit yet, I must say I'm very discouraged by the changes on Digg. If I wanted a "Twitterlike" or "Facebookey" type experience I'd be on those sights. I've always liked the diversity of the articles on Digg. It seems like in many ways that has been taken away, or at least made much more difficult to access.

Like many Diggers I was squarely in the "Digg has more or less the same content, more or less the same quality of comments, and a better UI" but now that v4 has forced me to give Reddit a try, I can tell you that Reddit ain't half bad, and I actually prefer it for content, and for customizability of the UI. Install the GreaseMonkey script to color the comments so you can quickly find the gems in a thread, and it becomes a no-brainer.
Some Redditors have an outer layer of smug, but on the whole they have been very welcoming to us Digg refugees (well, Mr. "IhateDiggers" not withstanding). Come join the party, and never look back!

While I agree that the new Digg setup isn't working for me. But the Digg users are not doing a lot to make me want to stay here either. The site has become completely unusable today and it is more the users of the site than digg management. Granted, the new tools allow this to happen.

I may be the only one, but I love the new Digg. Maybe because I'm not submitting stories all the time, or obsessing over having a story on the home page, but from a usability standpoint the new Digg is awesome. Better interface, better/easier social interaction with your Digg friends (love seeing friend's comments headlined rather than hunting for them in the long list of comments).
Having your default homepage now be the stories your friends are Digging gives me more relevant/interesting news that I'm interested in than before when the homepage was just the popular stories at that time. I like still being able to see the Top Stories, but the "My News" section is a welcome addition. I don't really see the whole "OMG!!!11ONE there are ads on the front page with the stories...so what? This is a free service that sees insane amount of bandwidth each month and a full staff of people to pay. Gotta pay the bills at the end of the day.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

I'm only back to see the s**tstorm that has become Digg, after reading about all the stories on Reddit. I left about 8 months ago, and I'm surprised this is how it's ended up. My home page or whatever the f**k they're calling it is all BBC and CollegeHumor. Well, the Reddit links too of course, which is pretty awesome.
I have 40 followers though, I guess that's cool or something.
