We still could use the older version of android browser though, so it's okay. Wish they wouldn't take it off from mobile devices in the future.
djguerrillaFeb 8, 2012
Flash is going away (on mobile devices). I would get used it to it*
*HTML5
jivatmanxFeb 8, 2012
I don't know why you're getting dugg down, because Adobe themselves have said that they are abandoning flash in favor of HTML5.
nunfuFeb 8, 2012
I think people are pinning a lot of hope on what HTML5 can do.
Flash at the very least provided consistency in all browsers.
It was an interaction/animation tool, not a video codec like a lot of people think.
8ballusaFeb 9, 2012
True, however in its infancy it caused many crashes and was constantly updating. I'm sure if they are backing HTML5 and put their exp. behind it this will be more of a finished product.
nunfuFeb 9, 2012
I agree with the updates issue. It cant work like that.
innercool22Feb 8, 2012
You could also install another browser.
kingfootFeb 8, 2012
I like how Apple makes this decision for their phone, and everyone freaks the f**k out. Adobe makes the decision for another major platform, and everyone's mildly disappointed.
antialiasFeb 8, 2012
Many of Apples decisions seem to go this way. Not all their choices are perfect of course but when they stopped including floppy drives everybody thought they were insane. Same with the missing CD drives on the Air and yet years later the industry follows the same path.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

warning.. the following comment is not approved by Apple's Thought Police. Their Ministry of iTruth will not appreciate the facts presented here.
when Apple took away floppy drives, it was *Apple users* that pitched a bitchfest. The rest of the world didn't notice, and didn't care. Apple was such a tiny minority of computers that their decisions meant nothing to anyone except their own users, and their own users were upset by the decision to drop floppies, because it caused trouble for them (no way to get files from the vast majority of PC users who still had floppy drives and still used them at that point in time).
yes, eventually the PC world also moved away from floppies, but this was done gradually, as floppies became optional instead of standard, and then special request items, and only after many years finally because difficult to have installed. this gradual change worked well for the "real world", where you cannot just expect the entire user base to give up a medium instantly because you decide they should.
the facts that Apple took floppies away from their users, and then later floppies became rare in the PC world are not in any way related. Apple did not drive, lead, or have anything to do with the fact that PCs also dropped floppies.
antialiasFeb 8, 2012
I didn't say they were the reason the pc market stopped using floppies, I'm saying they saw the writing on the wall and made the painful choice. That is one reason windows/PCs have complications and issues(admittedly not as much now as in the past). They try to keep support for every legacy device and option at the expense of ease of use and even cost(including hardware very few will use). Apple probably has a rough number where they say it's worth it to move on, say if 20% or less of users are using a given feature its marked for death and the next big thing is pushed in. How many PCs still have a parallel port or serial port? when was the last time you used one(probably nearly 12 years ago for me). Why do they still have them when 98% or more of PC users will never use the port?Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
TomHanks4Feb 8, 2012
There is no law saying PC must include some port. PC manufacturers provide whatever customers want, it's as simple as that. If a PC has a serial or parallel port, it's because the manufacturer has found that the cost of including it is less than the sales that would be lost if they didn't.
Apple has a long history of screwing over their customers with drastic changes, and their customers have a long history of forgiving them for this (and their fanboys a long history of trying to spin these decisions as positive or somehow leading the industry, which is a real laugh). Such tactics don't work in the PC world, where you have to actually compete with other manufacturers.
djguerrillaFeb 9, 2012
"Compete with other manufacturers" - Apple has been making profits that the industry has not been making for probably 5 years now. The PC market is flat, but Apple's growth isn't for some reason (not even including the iPad). Those "tactics" don't seem to have the effect your opinion thinks they should.
ldkronosFeb 8, 2012
"How many PCs still have a parallel port or serial port? when was the last time you used one"
That would be today, and every day for the past several years. My 3 year old Sharp Aquos LCD has a serial port interface on it, and my HTPC uses it to control the TV (more reliable than IR blasting, and it allows 2 way communication so the PC can know the current state of the TV).
antialiasFeb 8, 2012
Why not have a $10 pci card with the serial port instead of thousands or millions of PCs that will never use it? That is one reason many of us computer savvy users don't use Macs is because we do the edge case quirky stuff. Apple builds what 90% of the people use 90% of the time. Up until a year or two ago one of the main things determining the thickness of PC laptops was that they had to include a vga port. That seems like a huge sacrifice when you could just include a dongle for those that might need the legacy port, most laptops are probably never even hooked up to an external display.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

"Why not have a $10 pci card with the serial port instead of thousands or millions of PCs that will never use it?"
I wasn't arguing...simply answering the question.
TomHanks4Feb 8, 2012
@antialias
"Up until a year or two ago one of the main things determining the thickness of PC laptops was that they had to include a vga port"
this is just dumb. no laptop ever *had* to include anything. if they included something, it's because the market wanted it. in the real world, competition to appeal to the customer, in other words to satisfy the user's needs, drives what features are included.
"most laptops are probably never even hooked up to an external display."
except in the business world, where it's extremely common. both roadwarrior offices where a full sized screen and kb serve the mobile user, and in the conference room where the external display is a projector. these scenarios are happening every single day in most businesses. admittedly, business is a place where Macs are rarely seen, but still a massive market for laptops.

Now that flash is dead, lets work on getting rid of that silly optical drive on the rest of the macs.
thespookFeb 8, 2012
Flash is nice for watching video. Remember the days when you'd visit a web site and it would say, "You must have xyz player installed to use this site." Buffering...
spazattack5000Feb 9, 2012
Real Player.... UGH!
kvnkaneFeb 8, 2012
zzzz. someone hurry up and develope a phone that supports flash already
cawpinFeb 8, 2012
Um, Android phones do. It's just the new Chrome browser that doesn't.
erichodge615Feb 8, 2012
I do not think is good for them
ohnoeeeFeb 8, 2012
Um... most of the internet uses Flash. Animators use Flash. Just because Apple was being a f**king prude to Flash, we and Adobe needed to conform?
donniehoward08Feb 8, 2012
it's the way of the market, nothing to do with Apple or Adobe... Flash is just too bulky and HTLM 5 is the new hotness so to speak
ohnoeeeFeb 9, 2012
Animators don't feel that way, and I don't think they'll make the jump until a similar flash-like program for it comes out.
pika2000Feb 9, 2012
Oh well, a non-issue. I never have Flash installed on my first Android phone (Nexus One) till today (Galaxy Nexus), and never ran into a problem, ever. Never have an issue on iOS either.
craig1958Feb 9, 2012
News flash; mobile flash is dead. Hopefully, all traces of flash will disappear from the net sooner than later. Time to move on.
late8Feb 8, 2012
who the hell is digging people down?? I'm buried for saying HTML5 on my S2 is better ! - which it IS !
late8Feb 8, 2012
good !
HTML5 for me on my Galaxy S2 provides better video quality + faster loading times etc.
Most of the stuff on Android isnt flash anyway - like YouTube app and website.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
deomo899Feb 8, 2012
They can expect for people to look towards another browser for service if this is the case.
zbeastFeb 8, 2012
I have a love hate relationship with flash.
I like how you can make animated movies and graphics in flash.
but it's such a pig... 80% of all the crashes on my home computers are caused by flash.
"Flash Player Has Quit unexpectedly"
and even tho flash has died a horrible death it's stinking corpse continues to slow my
computer until I reboot
Perhaps it's time to say good buy to flash for web.
but keep it around for use in cartoons..
Like it's use in My Little Pony Friendship is magic.
Which is animated using flash and toon boom
