I dont know... people do have the right to privacy, even in public places. What if you were hiding from your ex husband, and he seen you on google maps, found you and killed you? People do deserve to feel safe...

If you're afraid of people seeing you outside you DON'T GO OUTSIDE.
Again, circumstances are irrelevant, in PUBLIC you have no right to PRIVACY. It's incredibly straightforward.
As far as actual LEGAL precedent: People are allowed to take your picture outside. If they're taking just regular pictures, not focusing on you, you have no legal argument for them not to take your picture.

I'm not sure on this but I think it analyzes a series of images as opposed to one signle image. It will look at, say, 3 or 4 images as if it were a video (because the camera is moving). If the person has also moved in the duration of three shots, we know it's living.
However I'm not sure how it ignores vehicles... it's possible it takes size into consideration too.

This whole privacy business is getting completely out of hand. Don't get me wrong, I value and respect privacy. But that's why I keep private things f**king private. Privacy is first and foremost about personal f**king responsibility. I'm really getting sick of all these whiny bitches who think that privacy means, "I'm going to do something in public, everyone look away!" You don't want to be seen in public? Don't leave your f**king house. You don't want the world to know your most intimate secrets on Facebook? Don't f**king put them on Facebook.

Honestly I really would rather they keep people. Does no-one think of the historical value of having constantly updated screen shots of street life, and people in them, from all over?
The street is about as public as it gets there should be zero complaint for being photographed when out on the street.

I completely agree - however, there are cases I believe should remain open for argument. For example, I was street viewing around in... Australia, I beleive? and I went down a long gravel road... near a lake, and saw some campers.. with their underwear hanging on the line, and their tents set up.
Also, theres some cases where the camera can see over top of privacy fences and into the windows of homes.

By your own logic, that would be acceptable, since we have no expectation of privacy in public places. I can watch you, report on you, keep tabs on you, tail you wherever you go, build stats on where you go, how much time you spend there, develop a profile on you based on that data, eventually determining damn near everything about you from the octane level of the gas you buy to whether or not like you like sprinkles on your f**king donut. All for a good reason. I've got a mile long line of people at my door who want that information to sell you s**t. And you'll buy it. They know you'll buy it. Because they know you.

Cool technology yes, but the thought browsing Google street view - minus people is just well... creepy. In a ghost town kind of way. A resemblance which is not helped by the presence of artifacts or "ghosts" in the sample photos.
