It's very simple... No one's gonna friggin' put down money to buy a movie or an album if they haven't had a chance to sample it first. That's why I don't get why piracy is such a huge friggin' deal. Let's say we magically stopped all piracy tomorrow. You know what would happen? Movie and music sales would take a huge decline. Who's gonna waste money on something if they don't have any way of knowing beforehand whether it's good or not?

I was waiting for a company to bring this up, to realize that piracy will win and its best just to change your buisness model. I did not however think that it would come out of the porn industry.

People here always talk about "changing the business model" to support piracy. Tell me, how does any industry do this? You can build around piracy to make sure that it doesn't sink your business entirely, but you can't rebuild the entire business model around people stealing your product.

Unless youre downloading entire SiteRips of porn sites, then piracy works for it. If you shared a really nice clip of something - and the parent website has loads of content just like that - then theres a good chance people will sign up for a membership.

Why does the porn industry always seem to lead the way when it comes to technology adaptation?
Not that I really care who leads the way, but I do find it strange that the porn industry is usually the first to find a way to make money with new tech and they are always willing to be very flexible when it comes to adjusting their business practices when the winds of change start blowing.

I feel like the porn industry would be the most hurt. I have no need to ever have to buy porn. I would think that they're getting more screwed then movies, video games, music, and Sasha Grey combined.
