mrgodaiAug 19, 2010
ever called a sex hotline? imagine the chick on the other end stole your phone and call herself non stop and charge you for it.
hipmanAug 19, 2010
Well that's just pointless.
bumfaceAug 19, 2010
Does this scam only work with iPhones then?
waitasecAug 19, 2010
Since they separate the phone and the sim I'm guessing it works with any phone. I think the articl e confuses the reason iphones were involved, and any story sounds better when it centers around an iphone. Sim was used for dialing charges the phones were just sold for profit since they fetch a good price and they were purchased with stolen credit cards.

iPhone has a high resale value...
crazyliltingAug 21, 2010
I'm not sure if it works with yours, what was your number again?
nspriggsAug 19, 2010
This is actually a really smart idea. No wonder they made so much before they got caught.
crazycrazypeteAug 19, 2010
Pretty f**king easily I would imagine?
rezzedoutAug 19, 2010
Millions of Pounds? Someone was getting fat...
jah1Aug 19, 2010
So they stole millions and yet they had nothing to show for it except 'smart cars'. So really they caught the low level runners of the operation and the organization really running it are counting millions somewhere about to start the cycle again on another network...
sixthreeAug 19, 2010
take that android. (did not read article). digg me up.
bobhopeisgodAug 19, 2010
If by digg you up, you mean block you because I'm sure you'll never say anything of value based on the complete idiocy of your comment, then yes. Yes I will.
timeshifterAug 19, 2010
There's an app for that.
unic0rnAug 19, 2010
This is not new, and has been common for a while now.
Back in the days when Bluetooth enabled headsets were getting big, the phones were taken control of and dialed into the premium lines. Very lucrative.
doublebaconsodaAug 19, 2010
See what happens when you restrict the free sale of goods? Black markets.

It is clear they didn't get to the bottom of this ring as they did not find where the money went. So it is safe to say who ever is at the top of the pyramid is free to recruit others. It would seem it is harder to follow the money then it looks, millions can seem to disappear.
