arstechnica.com— Ninety-two percent of a sample of Kindle Fire owners report being "very satisfied" or "somewhat satisfied," and more than half think the $199 price is its best feature.

I'm enjoying the first generation Fire. I can't wait to see what's in store for the next version. At the very least, I hope it includes a standard USB port and an SD memory slot. Blue tooth would be nice too so you could easily add accessories like keyboards and what not.
I very much enjoy the Kindle as well, but I don't hold out too much hope for too much feature expansion in a followup model - at least if Kindle continues to maintain the same pricing structure.
Currently, Amazon sells the device at a significant loss, and cuts corners on features to be able to do so - keeping only features that directly benefit their services - which is ultimately the primary marketing strategy for the device. They recoup their losses by porting content through it. The developing success of this indicates a stroke of genius their part.
Given that, the addition of a USB port and memory slot would be great, but not necessarily beneficial to the enhancement of Amazon's services. It would be great to expand the memory, or do video chat, etc. with the Fire, but at that price point, it would be difficult to expect it.
My guess is that the next version will have an improved chipset, and maybe...MAYBE more internal memory, plus a few refinements of the underpinning OS.
The ability to either not have or at least easily/conveniently keep a camera blocked most of the time have been overlooked by manufacturers, despite some very mental students and educator support staff showing up in the news as using them to spy on high school kids and coeds.
Glad to see Mashable noting that an integral camera is not simply something that people want to have but also something that people do not want to have.
