Coming to stores near you, as soon as 2030!

~80% efficiency is thought to be the holy grail of solar cells because physicists believe that is the best we will ever get and if we can go from what I believe is less than 25% efficiency on current cells to almost 60% then we really have an incredibly important discovery. Our entire oil/coal based economy can be made obsolete very quickly if 30% efficiency is cost comparable to oil or coal. This is the discovery I was waiting for to make my investment move into the green energy sector I can assure you that this will be one of the major sources of new wealth in the very near future. If I had to venture a guess at when this research will be implemented it would be in less than 5 years not 2030. The design seems to be simple enough to manufacture and is supposed to be fairly inexpensive which is a great combination.

This is epic news. I've been considering solar panels for years; when these hit the market, I will definitely be more convinced.

It seems that improvements like this, incremental increases in efficacy of pre-existing tools, are much more realistic than other possibilities. We ought to be focusing on this.
