Some programs still require IE to be installed. Examples: Norton Products and Yahoo Messenger

This program is GREAT. You can preload all of your drivers for it. Doesn't sound like a huge deal, but I have a SATA hard drive as my primary drive and windows wants you to load those drivers during install from a floppy...and only a floppy...and if you don't have a floppy drive? You know, because you live in the 21st century? You're screwed. There's lots of other small stuff it does, too. It's nice.

You can try not being a dumb s**t and just delete the shortcuts. All of those programs COMBINED take up like 10MB.

nLite is very cool. It doesn't remove stuff from an existing installation--it lets you make a new install disc future installation are clean. You actually can remove IE with it, but that will likely lead to issues later one.98Lite and XPLite might be what adml used...they let you remove stuff after the fact.

Oh yah, I have a K6 400Mhz/64mb running a totally stripped install of XP I made using this. Runs very nice (uses Litestep as alternative shell). (Of course, I also have a PII 450Mhz/192mb running Arch Linux that does very well running KDE and even better with XFCE or Fluxbox.)

you can cut the size of an xp cd inhalfthis isnt for deleting programs you dnt want.. it is for not installing them at all and installs default programs you always reinstall when you set up windows.. like winrar. utorrent.. etc...then if that wasnt good enough for the complainers here.. it also tweaks the windows install..patches tcpip, intergrates all recent hotfixes, can set desktop, search, control panel, etc to classic..many other tweaks.. saves hours on reinstall.. friends have borrowed my nlite disk.. just to get their systems more like mine.. it's all unattended..i recently visited my father.. and he had a slightly buggy xp cd with nothing important on it.. so i put in my nlite cd reboot and we went to play golf.. when we got back.. he was all set up.. with av, antispyware.. ectThis thing rocks sooo freakin much.. it should be included with windows.. daves me hours on a reinstall.. all the complainers are idiots...to the repeated idiots that love to come in every windows digg to tout linux.. remmeber that linux is not windows and was never meant to be... no matter how much you tout it many people will never listen... and for those people.. this rocks..Oh yeah i use linux on a few machines..it has it's own set of headaches.. i love installers that ask you a question every 30 minutes.. what keyboard you want...english.. 30 minutes later.. what language you speak... 30 minutes later.. what time zone you live in.. SO blow your linux comments out your ass.. Not only do linux and ms have a place in the world but so does mac and many other os's.. windows not your cup of tea.. stay out of windows diggs.. and i promise i wont go into linux diggs touting the almighty bill gates.
