I'm not going to pay for DRM content. Just not going to do it. It's a waste of money. Besides I have an HD DVR so I don't even need to download these shows.
@BkingThat's why I don't torrent. I wouldn't be able to keep seeding, both because I'm scared s**t of getting caught uploading and because I wouldn't have time to keep seeding. So, I don't know where to get movies from. I can't even pay for movies because of iTune's video DRM! I need to find an AllofMP3 for videos.
I just can't get over the fact that if I pay for cable, I get the channel that has a show and I miss that show... why should I have to pay for it? DVR's and Tivo's aren't illegal, so how is pirating TV shows illegal? I understand that they make money from DVD sales, but if the show was on yesterday and I missed it even though technically I paid for it, how is that stealing if I download via torrent?
Unfortunately, itunes has a lesser quality Music file AND Video filing selection, which is weird because with Apple TV coming out, id figure they would up the quality or something. I have a high end audio system in my car, and when I buy a cd versus burning the cd I buy from itunes, the quality is MUCH better from the CD. I think that apple should do on itunes for its videos and audio what certain podcasts do. They offer a larger better quality version and a smaller lesser quality version. Trust me, I actually want to BUY the episodes of certain shows I watch a lot, but being that the pirated versions are so much better, i just find myself downloading them. The only reason I even buy itunes music is because a lot of the time they will give you a bonus song or something. Plus the ipod's battery life is so s**tty, that if you don't have 128 aac audio files playing, then your battery will drain..
Uh huh.So if you were eating a turkey sandwich, and I magically and instantly created another IDENTICAL turkey sandwich, have I stolen your sandwhich? What if I use that sandwhich to make a million more copies and I feed all the starving people in the world? Am I a felon? Should I go to jail for stealing sandwiches and distributing them without a license?Your analogy and thoughts do not make sense. Even calling it piracy is extreme. You cannot equate a downloaded song or movie as a lost sale. There is no evidence to prove that the user would have paid for the work if it wasn't available for free. There's no evidence to prove that the user isn't planning on paying for it if they enjoy it. So please, shut the f**k up.
This article is true, for the most part. One correction though - it's not just CBS shows that are 4:3 - showtime, FX and a few other also crop to 4:3. It's fundamentally dishonest of Apple to crop shows that are released in 16:9 to 4:3. Apple should at least have the 'balls' to fess up - in the form of "4:3 aspect only" or "not for optimised for Apple TV" label.I am more than happy to pay for Apple's iTunes service, and DO frequently. However, if the choice is Torrent 16:9 or iTunes 4:3 - surely for most people, Torrent will often win on principle. Apple, you are, at least, driving the demand for pirated HD content - please give people what they reasonably expect - 720p 16:9.

Same thing as 'jacking off' versus 'real sex'

@ cbreakerHa! Sorry, had to laugh at a torrent site that 'keeps people honest'. Gone one.
