engadget.com — It's been a long time coming. So how could we resist giving the new higher quality, DRM free iTunes Plus music service a whirl? After all, we're geeks, and loaded with all kinds of audio devices (not just iPods or Macs and PCs running iTunes) which we'd like to make use of with our purchased media. @wageslaven"Hope you dont use your _real_ name for any of this."Or your real credit card that you have to use to buy the track.

@macparrot: If they offered music with lossless compression with no DRM or watermarking I would consider purchasing it. It is a lot easier and cheaper to steal it though!

It was either make a deal with the label to charge a bit more for DRM-free music, or no DRM-free music at all. Evidently, people are more than willing to put up with 30 cents in exchange for a DRM-free song. Now then, if all the labels could jump onto this, see the light, and eventually let Apple have all songs be DRM-free at 99 cents I'd be ecstatic. Hopefully this move will make the other labels see the light/realize that no DRM is hack-proof.

I'm listening to my upgraded tracks now and the quality difference is positively amazing. I used to one of those kids that could usually tell, too. HA.

Remove those tags and you've automatically created an "illegal" file. You can no longer prove you paid for it, so you can now be accused of obtaining stolen goods.

Next, the RIAA will lobby to make it illegal to own files which are not watermarked. Just wait and see.

"Hope you dont use your _real_ name for any of this."You have to use your REAL name and REAL credit card details and REAL credit card billing ADDRESS if you want to purchase the songs. So it's kind of tough to hide really.
