arstechnica.com — Counterfeiters have moved from selling cracked iTunes gift codes to trying to draw iPhone developers into a scam to defraud Apple of thousands of dollars. Apple may need to look into making its codes harder to crack sooner than later.

I thought the people that "cracked" the codes simply just used stolen credit cards to buy real itunes gift cards.

I also love how they lowered the prices on their music.<a class="user" href="http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewMix?id=311236818&amp;s=143441&amp;wm=1">http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/ ...</a><a class="user" href="http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewMix?id=311237764&amp;s=143441&amp;wm=1">http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/ ...</a>

Because you have to give your banking info and address to sign up as a developer. This way the scammers don't get caught, only the developers will and most likely they'll get banned from their developer account.

Skype is the type of product that doesn't jive with either Apple or AT&T's business plans of monopolization. Neither will talk about the alleged federal violations regarding Skype on AT&T's wireless network. For more information on this issue, here is an article to read: <a class="user" href="http://www.yourlawyer.com/topics/overview/Iphone-Skype-Att-Lawsuit">http://www.yourlawyer.com/topics/overview/Iphone-S ...</a>

As Gibletoid said, few, if any, developers would be stupid enough to try this. All it takes is for Apple to find out, any time in the future, and not only are you banned for life, you'll probably be sued for all your past earnings, legitimate or not. And yes, if Apple sent you money, they know who you are. This scheme will go nowhere. App developers are not the kind who fall for Nigerian scams.
