plastictrees.typepad.com — It looks like iTunes doesn't record how many people are actually subscribed to a podcast but rather how many times the button is pressed. This makes the iTunes ranking as irrelevant as a list because just about anyone can change the results in iTunes by simply clicking on subscribe button 20 or 50 or 100 times.

Yep, it's true... this has been revealed by The Podbrothers some time ago. In the Netherlands it does work, the Podbrothers also threw some major Broadcast stations out of the iTunes list by reporting concerns and iTunes just skipped them ....
