macrumors.com— While not mentioned in any of the reviews, we've received word that custom Ringtone support is in fact a feature of iTunes 7.3.

Yes, it's absurd. You've already bought the song, and it's already on your phone, so it's just a matter of setting the song to play when you recieve a call. It's probably not Apple, but the labels. Essentially, the labels are insisting on charging you a fee to set your phone preferences. These ****s****rs would debit your bank account when you hummed a tune if they could. f**k them and don't pay for it.
Simple solution: Download Audacity.Make your own ringtone.Send it via bluetooth to the phone, from your computer.Set sent file as ringtone. If they make it impossible to do this, I will not by an iPhone because I don't want my ability to transfer custom files to by limited. I love Apple, but there is no reason to make this impossible.I compose, so of course I'm going to want to make my own ringtones. And all you need to do to make a ringtone from a song you already own (from one of your CDs) then all you need to do is rip it, and make a 30 second clip of it from what you enjoy. I do see them stopping this from being done with music purchased from iTunes, but that is why I don't buy music from iTunes. If I am going to pay for a CD, I would rather pay for the physical CD and have the ability to rip it as many times as I want to, and edit the sounds for particular events and desires. As long as I remain consistent with copy right protections, then there is no problem using them for ring tones.
That's such bulls**t, so when I buy a song I'm not aloud to use that song as an alert? how is it any different just because the song plays when you get a call?

Because you're not going to be able to put your own ringtones on there, no MP3 ringtones, etc.
