apple.com — iTunes 4.9 now appears in "Software Update" with the following notation: "With iTunes 4.9, you can now browse and subscribe to podcasts from within the iTunes Music Store. Podcasts are frequently updated radio-style shows downloadable over the Internet. You can also transfer podcasts to iPod, for listening on the go."

Just add the feed manually this time. You can manage any feed you can add in. I'm testing this out since I doubt the podcast directory will include anything from Violet Blue. So far, so good.

Do you have to have a valid iTunes Music Store account to be able to setup and download podcasts? (for those of use who aren't yet blessed with a local music store presence)

Technically they dropped the regular iPods and renamed the iPod photo.Kick ass though, 60GB for what I payed for my 20GB a couple years back.

They can *start* charging... doesn't mean that we need to start paying for utter carp!

iTunes 4.9 won't break Winamp and mlipod. However the iPod firmware update will indeed break mlipod and every other non-iTunes iPod-capable program.
