technology.timesonline.co.uk — Portable music players may have to carry health warnings under proposals from the European Commission. Apple, which makes the iPod, and other manufacturers will be asked either to display labels advising users of the damaging long-term effects of loud music on their hearing or to devise a system of on-screen alerts triggered by prolonged use.

Why do we have to warn everyone about everything? They should put a warning on the headphones that you can be strangled by them by someone else because they might think you are being a elitist douchebag. They should put a warning that it is bad to shove the ipod up your butt, just in case 1 person tried it and some lawyer thinks they need a warning because of it.Do not use in the bathtub.

Umm. . . don't they already have a warning?Just saying. . . I mean mine did. Right where they told me not to wear headphones while driving (like I was thinking that was a great idea). Said something to the effect of "loud music can damage your hearing, as can listening to music for long periods of time". And then I think it suggested taking breaks and such.OK so most people don't read the manual - but still. . .

We need warning labels to keep people from sticking sharp objects in their eyes, how different is this?
