gizmodo.com — "Just finished reading my Sunday New York Times. Interesting fact, every electronics ad--Circuit City, Best Buy, etc.--had zero iPods listed...Strange, given that every week, for months now, there have been iPods for sale. I think the big retailers know something we don't."

It wasn't an Apple product, was it? Most companies aren't as secretive about their releases as Apple are, and would ship product to retail stores ahead of the release. Apple doesn't - as far as I know.

Sorry, I looked at bunch of ads this morning in the paper and saw quite a few ipod ads.

Noticed newegg had them on sale earlier today and my gut reaction was "new iPod coming out soon".

I disagree with the bases of this article. Why would retailers want to wait for new shipments to arrive without clearing out there old stuff for as close to retail as possible. Think about it, if Bestbuy decided to wait and not display iPod's in there ads that's that many more they have to sell after the new ones come out. They can't ship the old ones back to apple, they have to sell them at a discount and that makes zero sense for retailers. If anything they want to clear out as much inventory as possible. I don't doubt that we might see ipods at the Sept. 12th event, but this coincidence in the sunday ads doesn't do anything to point to that possibility.

thashiz:Also, no iPod has ever been recalled. So when did you find out that iPods are sent back to Apple by Radioshack if recalled? Not that they wouldn't be, just wondering how you can be part of your explanation, since it never happened.

addvverrttissemmennttss. What's so tough about figuring that out?

Don't be ridiculous, Apple would definately put that in the spec sheet.

I like the vote options. Especially the one that says "I am now dumber for having read this."

My sister was just looking for a Ipod yesturday and claimed there was only one electronic store that still had any Ipods so she held off on the purchase until she could get some other price quotes.
