How is that retarded? All their products use the same format, if they did it as "since september 10th" then every single product would have a different base date, which makes no sense. It then requires you to know when the product was released in order to calculate when it was produced. I think you'll find the previous digit indicates the year and the 2 before that indicate the. So my iMac was produced at factory W8 (granted that'll only mean something to apple) in the year 2006 and in the 45th week, W8445.You can use <a class="user" href="http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html">http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.h ...</a> to find out what about your serial number. Mine was production 27 in that week, although I've not sure how they work that out
I called them and bitched and the order status changed to "Processing" 20 minutes later. My iPod Touch arrived about 30 hours later, engraving and all.
It also has the 9C738 serial number. I just stuck it on the charger and judging by what I see, the screen is much brighter like the iPhone, and the blacks aren't washed out and negative. YAY!
My 16GB iPod Touch has crashed four times in the first three weeks, requiring a restore, and now the fourth time, the thing refused to be stored. Unfortunately, since it was a gift that was engraved, getting this lemon replaced has been awful -- because I want to retain the engraving. I went to the Apple Store, and they wouldn't receive the lemon iPod Touch and have the replacement shipped. I have to ship the lemon to Apple. Then, to add another level of fun and games, they won't ship the replacement until either 1) my lemon iPod Touch arrives at their repair facility, or I give them my credit card number, which they will bill if I don't send the lemon iPod Touch. What kills me is that I am standing in an Apple Retail Store, within easy distance of beaning a dozen different Apple employees with this dead iPod, and I still have to ship it to Apple. Two things: 1) don't get the "free" engraving and 2) don't confuse the Apple Retail Stores with the company that makes the crap they sell.
hey i dont get this why is everyone talkin about week 36/37 and about the serial number and boxes. if u buy a ipod touch from a store like argos will it be fake or something??

News comapnies have done reports on this website and they have proven that it works. My iPod Touch while im using Apps with Wi-Fi kicks me back to the main menu. Can it be coz of the Wi-Fi connection or its iPod's problem ? Has anybody had same kind of problems ?
