mantissa.net — Story about a guy who tried to fix his iPod shuffle and it ended up with sparks, flames and smoke flying out of it. I'm just surprised how much of the ipod melted. Its made of quite tough plastic. Think he must have got into the battery or something.

@henryajEvidently, you're not familiar with the concepts of irony and sarcasm. For your information, humor over the ages has progressed past the "why did the chicken cross the road" phase. In fact, some people, in order to illustrate a humorous point, will say untrue things that are ridiculous. The humor comes from the apparent sincerity. The point of my comment was to illustrate the absurdity of assuming that poor quality control of a product contributed to the destruction of the product, as opposed to clear user abuse. It must have been the lithium-Ion battery, they are extremely dangerous when punctured. Lithium is an alkai metal (much like sodium) and very reactive to water (including water vapor in the air). It Oxidizes very quicly (burns). Just about 3 min ago! sept 20 2007 11:pm Eastern time ---My Ipod 3gen. Caght fire when plugin the Firewire cable from my mac. First a white smoke then sparks and then a burned junk funky usless Ipod , Technology SUCKs!!!!!!
