Exactly. They buy an Apple iPod and bitch how it doesnt work in Linux. It works in OS X and Windows. Get used to it. OS X is the best unix based OS on the planet.
Yeah, I would say that was a better solution. Considering how hard Apple has fought to regain some market-share, it still surprises me that they haven't even attempted (that I know of) a linux version of iTunes.
I think the main concern as regards updates relates to new units. Sure, if someone doesn't use iTunes they won't be updating their firmware. But presumably there is nothing to prevent Apple from loading newly-manufactured iPods with an updated, re-blocked firmware?
