apple.com— Looks like all the rumors were true: here's the red nano. Apple will donate $10 for every one purchased to help fight AIDS

What are you guys whining about? At least they're giving something. While the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation is great (and kudos to them for doing so), I don't see Microsoft giving $10 for each purchase of a red Zune or (when its available) a copy of Vista Media Center. Now that could generate some serious cash. Might also help their corporate image too.Oh that's right, it's Apple so you whine about it anyway. Very sad.
Bono's current net worth is around ?160-170 million. Even if he donates ?150 million do you really think thats the end of the problem? If he raises awareness then that number will only go up.Now there's no denying that the red ipod is going to sell like hot cakes. Add this to the red motorola, the red amex card, red gap t-shirts, red converse shoes and there's going to be a lot of money involved.Think about how many ipods are going to be sold this holiday. Then people will start to want matching red gear. Until third world debt is completely cleared then the money goes to the continuing treatment and purchase of medicines to help those in Africa suffering with these problems. If bono could stop all this by putting his hand in his pocket then wouldn't he've done it already?
Wow! $10 whole dollars to a charity on a product which hasn't gone down in price since it was invented! Boy, that Steve Jobs is a real giver, you know? Satan has a special place for him, and I believe that he has finally surpassed Bill Gates in Evildom, even if his marketshare hasn't.
The US Postal Service issues a Breast Cancer Research stamp for first class mail that costs 45 cents . The 6 cents above the normal 39 cent rate go to charity. Over eight years, six cents at a time (sometimes less actually, since they didn't always bump it up when first class postage changed,) this stamp has raised *fifty million dollars.*I imagine $10 per iPod can add up, though I won't go into the math of how many letters per year a person mails, the average lifespan of an iPod, portion of each item's price/profit is donated, etc.http://www.usps.com/communications/news/stamps/2006/sr06_024.pdf
People want something from their money. This way multiple parties win. Manufacturers profit, consumers receives an item and a donation is provided. Capitalism at its best.
