Although there's no way in hell I'd buy this current iPhone (will probably wait for a smaller version with 3G) - one of the nice things about Cingular is if you sign up through a Corporate account (called Cingular Premiere) you get KICK ASS customer service. When you call CustCare they automatically route you to Cingular Premiere and there's never any hold time or options to press...you get connected immediately to a rep and they are usually very knowledgable. What's even better is at least with my Cingular Premiere account I can upgrade whenever and as often as I want!! So IF I wanted the iPhone I could upgrade to it on my Cingular account for the same price as a new activation and I just upgraded 2 months ago!So in summary, try to get a Cingular Premiere account and life is good.
Sorry forgot to add you also get good discounts with Cingular Premiere - I get 22% of my monthly bill and 50% of devices (excludes PDAs and most likely iPhone but still).
Im just saying its comparable with a multitouch screen, double the resolution, cheaper, and its unlocked which is a big deal because cingular sucks. Have fun with the dropped calls and terrible service. Not to mention that you can install any software that you want, not just DRM laden stuff approved by apple.

No EDGE, no WiFi a fraction of the memory... are you serious? it's an interesting phone, but not really in the same league.

They already stated somewhere that you will not be able to get that discount on the iPhone. Actually here's the link: http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/10/cingular-kicking-rear-and-taking-names-for-iphone/
