kansas.com — The iPod is overdue for a change. By fall, it will be two years since Apple introduced the so-called fifth-generation iPod. You may see a touch-screen iPod this fall, a few months after the buzz of the iPhone launch settles and a few months before the key holiday sales season kicks in

More annoying speculation - buried as lame. Please WAIT until we have some REAL Apple news before posting.

First, this is pure speculation -- as are all Apple rumors.Second, I do hope there is a "real" wide-screen iPod in the works.Lastly, I want it well before fall. How about a nice Valentines present from Apple? A St. Paddy's day treat? Fall is much too far away....

1. I never knew the iPhone was $700, oh yeah that's because it's not, it's $499 and $599.2. How do know the cost of an unreleased procduct?3. Why would someone buy both of these devices?

Firehead...you are right. Because the demand for the iPhone can't possibly get any lower than it already is. Sincethe day after the MacWorld announcement, the only sound you head is complete and utter apathy toward the iPhone. (Hence the stock dropping 13.5%.)

Hey everyone. I'm having the hardest time deciding whether to get an ipod video right now or should I wait for the next generation. I really don't want to wait another year for the next ipod and also I don't want the iphone. What should I do buy one now or hope that a new generation will come out in the near future??? PLEASE HELP ME

I agree with many opinions on this thread. What Apple needs to do to destroy the competition even more is not try to conquer the phone market right now, but is to make the iPod stronger so the average consumer AND the techies will love it. Sure, it's easy to use, but as an owner of one, I find it lacking in features....until they unveiled the iPhone. Steve said, "It's the best iPod we've ever made..."... Then make the BEST iPOD YOU'VE EVER MADE. Not just a phone. Being that many many people won't switch to Cingular or wait till the "multi-year" contract it over to get it on another carrier. While the Phone and iPod thing is awesome, I want it to simplify my life. Making me give up my carrier and the features in my phone the iPod won't have and my iPod's storage size is too much compromising for me to get them in one device. Even giving up the features you have by them being separate devices. For example, when I want to listen to my iPod through my stereo or share a song with a friend over the phone etc. It's just too many sacrifices.I would love to have a non- cell phone version of the iPhone. Just take out the GSM, EDGE, text messaging, voicemail and replace them with Instant messaging apps for Wi-Fi, iTunes store over Wi-Fi [also for iPhone], a 30GB, 80GB, 100GB hard drive, the "phone" aspect of it altogether and there, you DO have the best iPod ever.
